Job Description Summary:Under the direction of the Director of Special Instructional Services and supervisor of diagnostic and related services
FCPS, the Speech-Language Pathologist will work collaboratively with school staff to identify and evaluate students
for Speech Language Impairments as well as develop and implement intervention and therapy programs to promote
student success and foster achievement for all students.
Qualifications: - Applicants must hold a valid, current School Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology and
- A Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology.
- A Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA is preferred.
Essential Duties:The Speech-Language Pathologist will:
- Ensure every student new to VA public schools receives a speech and language screening. This includes all kindergarten students and students transferring into VA in 1st through 3rd grade.
- Through the screening process, refer students suspected of having a Speech Language Impairment to school referral teams.
- Collaborate with school staff and collect data for IDEA referral meetings.
- Provide interventions within the Virginia Tiered System of Supports to students with deficits in speech and language skills.
- Complete assessments and evaluations in all areas of communication, using various sources of data, and write thorough evaluation reports.
- Attend eligibility meetings and triennial review meetings, presenting evaluation and assessment information to teams.
- Develop appropriate IEPs and case manage students identified under the Speech Language Impairment category for special education services.
- Schedule and group students effectively according to communication needs to provide direct therapy interventions.
- Provide Evidence-Based Practices in speech-language therapy to ensure students achieve mastery of proposed goals.
- Communicates with parents and teachers regarding plans for each student
- Maintain ongoing data collection to ensure student progress.
- Periodically review student progress and document clearly in progress reports and in the annual IEP.
- Collaborate with school staff (general education teachers, special education teachers, and others) to assist in effectively integrating remediation strategies into educational environments.
- Provide in-service education to staff on speech/language topics as needed, including integrating Augmentative and Alternative Communication within the educational setting.
- Initiates consultation with other speech/language pathologists in areas of need and interest.
- Participates in various inservice activities as specified by principal, or Director of Special Instructional Services
- Maintain confidentiality in all matters.
- Demonstrate good attendance and punctuality, and respond to all correspondence in a professional and timely manner.
- Complete medicaid billing documentation for services rendered to students.
- Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities, respecting the worth, dignity, and individual difference of others.
- Comply with and support school division policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Performs all other job duties as assigned by the Director of Special Instructional Services and/or designee.

Pay Rate: P5 Salary Scale (credit is based on years of full-time experience in a related position)
Contract:Full time / 10 months / 200 days
