Job Description

To achieve District goals through effective and efficient maintenance of District vehicles.

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities

1. Mount, dismount and repair tires on all District vehicles and equipment
2. Assist with any mechanical repairs as necessary on District vehicles and equipment
3. Make road calls for tire repair as necessary
4. Pick up and deliver parts as necessary
5. Maintain inventory of new and discarded tires
6. Regular attendance is an essential function of the job
7. Performs other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilitiesexpected for this position.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED, some formal college or equivalent.

• 1+ years of experience

• Valid Texas Commercial Driver License (CDL) with a good driving record. Meet and maintain liability coverage eligibility. (If the applicant does not have a CDL, then the applicant must be able to secure the CDL within 30 calendar days from the date of employment)

• Must meet alcohol and controlled testing requirements set forth by the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991

• Must pass annual medical examination per Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).

• Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Must be able to mount and dismount all manner of tires and wheels, using all required safety precautions. This includes big trucks and heavy equipment.

• Must be able to operate balancing machines, tire machines and lift equipment.

Job Description

• Knowledge of safety measures regarding use of standard chemicals related to the position is required.

Working ConditionsWork Environment:

• Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.

• Shop equipment and tools: ladder, scaffold, small hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, sockets, pliers, crimpers, wire cutters, etc.), power tools (saw, drill, sander, etc.), torque wrench, drills, drill press, grinder, air impact tools, welding torch, jacks, lift equipment, wheel balancing equipment, tire repairing equipment, and automotive diagnostic equipment

• Grounds equipment: backhoe, trencher, grader blade, tractor and mower, riding and power mower, tire repairing equipment, and automotive diagnostic equipment

• Vehicles and related equipment: school bus, light van, shoulder harnesses, safety equipment (flares, reflective signs), and fire extinguisher

• Special needs adaptive equipment: wheelchair lifts, automatic lift equipment, ramps, and locks

• Communication equipment: radio communication equipment and cellular phone

• Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.

Physical Demands/Requirements:

• Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines; frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, pulling and pushing; reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity and prolonged data input; occasional lift/carry light, moderate 15-44 pounds.
