Job Description
The Educational Diagnostician conducts diagnostic evaluations on students referred for special education services, adhering to state and local eligibility guidelines. Acts as a case manager and ombudsman between teachers, parents, students, the district, and community organizations. Plan school programs as appropriate. Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
1. Utilizes extensive subject matter knowledge in providing consultative support to school staff through the multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) process, offering suggestions for strategies and interventions that may be implemented in the general education classroom to meet the needs of struggling students. Consult with school staff about implementation of the IEPs, appropriate accommodations and modifications, and strategies for learning using latitude for independent judgement.
2. Manages caseload and assignments to meet compliance timelines for evaluations, ARD/IEP committee meetings, and services to students. Cases range from simple to complex matters.
3. Creates, develops, coordinates, and evaluates special education instructional programs. Participates in the selection and implementation of special education instructional materials.
4. Plans, coordinate, and conduct district-wide and campus-wide events and activities related to special education.
5. Administers approved achievement and intelligence measures, using established instruments and procedures. Prepares evaluation reports.
6. Provides input and participates in admission, review, and dismissal (ARD) committee meetings to interpret appraisal results and in the development of the individual education plans (IEPs).
7. Participates in the development of Special Education policies and procedures. Disseminates information, as appropriate.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position.
Minimum Requirements
• Master's degree from an accredited college or university or 4 years equivalent experience.
• SBEC Certification as Educational Diagnostician.
• 5+ years progressive experience as an educational diagnostician or related function.
• Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.
Preferred Qualifications
• 8+ years progressive experience as an Educational Diagnostician. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Proven ability to administer and interpret intelligence and achievement assessment instruments.
• Proven ability to prepare appropriate individual education plans (IEPs).
• Demonstrated knowledge of local, state, and federal rules and regulations pertaining to special education.
• Demonstrated knowledge of various special education eligibility conditions and the challenges to learning.
• Previous knowledge of curriculum in grades PK through
12.
• Excellent organization and communication (written and oral).
• Proven ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, and parents. Working Conditions Work Environment:
• Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.
• Frequent exposure to temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional exposure to biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.
Physical Demands/Requirements:
• Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines and prolonged or irregular hours; Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing; Occasional: Lifting and carrying 10-25 pounds frequently, 25-40 pounds occasionally, more than 45 pounds infrequently with assistance; Pushing/pulling 10-35 pounds sporadically; May be required under specific circumstances to provide physical restraint of students in danger of causing harm to themselves or others; Frequent districtwide and occasional statewide travel.

• Supervision of individual students during evaluation sessions.
