Job Description

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of the District's enterprise-wide systems, Life Safety & Security Systems, computer systems and servers. Responsibilities will include installing hardware, software, management, and participate in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with the IT and Police Department business needs of their organization; software includes Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server, Life Safety and Security Systems; Systems Administrators will provide second level technical support and service to District employees, Police Officers, Technicians, and Help Desk staff; System administrators also actively resolve problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within the company.

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities

1. Assist with in the system administration of Microsoft Solutions: Active Directory, Windows Server, Windows Clients, etc.; collaborates with the management, maintenance, and supports the operation of Life Safety & Security Systems; assists in the creation, installation, and maintenance of computer software images; supports with testing and packaging district supported software; installing and uninstalling district-supported software.

2. Assist in monitoring systems for optimal performance and efficiency; schedules and follows through with updates and testing.

3. Recognize, diagnose, troubleshoot, and solve basic hardware and software problems on Intel and Macintosh based systems via phone or one-on-one, on-site support.

4. Assist in the development, maintenance, and supports scripting for continual improvement of automation processes, framework, and workflows; develops installation knowledge of PowerShell scripting, packaging and deployment and the installation, configuration and maintenance of Data Center hardware.

5. Serve as escalation resource to IT staff and Police Officers in resolving moderate issues; supports Help Desk personnel with work order-tracking software.

6. Provide feedback to the evaluation of software and hardware for suitability and applicability within the District's instructional and life safety goals; assists in researching and assessing information dealing with new computer technology as it pertains to district; ensures compliance with local, state and federal policies and procedures for software additions or revisions.

7. Assist with the compilation, maintenance and retention of all physical and computerized reports, records and other required documents; provides technical assistance and training for application, and network software and hardware; assists in reviewing and conducting professional learning activities on Operations and Systems Integration topics.

8. Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or vocational college or four years of equivalent experience.

• Up to 2 years in a systems administrator experience • On call twenty-four (24) hours a day for one week at a time in a rotating shift, and year-round for

emergency Life Safety & Security Systems equipment repairs. Work is performed three hundred sixty-five (365) days a year in both indoors and outdoors facilities.

• This position is essential and may be expected to report to work during inclement weather conditions.
• Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee

(approximately $50.00) paid by the employee

Preferred Requirements

• Master's Degree from an accredited institution • 2+ systems administrator experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy

• Strong organizational and time management skills • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills • Strong computer skills and knowledge of multiple databases and software systems • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines • General knowledge and understanding of system and networking software, hardware, and networking

protocols • Ability to plan, organize and document complex system design activities and to configure systems to be

consistent with SAISD's policies/procedure • Experience with Microsoft Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server 2019/2022 • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Power Shell, and Office 365 • Experience with Videos Surveillance Systems • Experience with Access Control Systems • Experience with Building Alarm and Security Systems
