Job Description
To assist in the attainment of District goals through the provision of effective and efficient custodial services. Clean and maintain district facilities using routine procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds. Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
1. Keep all areas of school building and school grounds neat, clean and sanitary, including sidewalks, parking lots, play areas, athletic facilities, restrooms and office areas.
2. Maintain a regular cleaning schedule that includes floors, white/chalk boards, trash baskets and bins, carpets, furniture, fixtures, windows, equipment, restrooms, school yard and other areas as designated by the direct supervisor.
3. Assist with maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and complete supply requests as needed.
4. Follow established procedures for locking, checking and safeguarding facilities.
5. Exercise particular care to clean areas occupied and not accessible during the day
6. Assist in maintaining cafeteria clean and sanitary as needed during active lunch period
7. Regulate heat, ventilation and air conditioning systems to provide appropriate temperatures and ensure efficient use of fuel, water and electricity.
8. Check daily that all exit doors, panic bolts and fire safety equipment are working properly during hoursof building occupancy.
9. Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
10. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
11. Correct unsafe conditions in work areas and report to direct supervisor any hazardous conditionsthat cannot be fixed.
12. Mow yards/grass around building and remove debris and litter from grounds.
13. Attend mandatory training and professional learning activities applicable to position.
14. Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expectedfor this position.
Minimum Requirements
• Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Manual skills necessary to perform custodial work• Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures
• Ability to carry out directives from direct supervisor and work effectively with minimum supervision
• Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building maintenance preferred
• Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and federal policies, including daily attendance, punctuality, and confidentiality.

Working Conditions Work Environment:
• Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.
• Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.
Physical Demands/Requirements:
• Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines; frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, pulling and pushing; reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity and prolonged data input; occasional lift/carry light, moderate 15-44 pounds.
