JOB TITLE: Technology Support Technician REPORTS TO: Director of Technology WORK YEAR:Full Time - Year round

SUMMARY

The Technology Support Technician will provide knowledge and support to ensure that hardware, network, and software systems are implemented and supported effectively throughout the East Providence School District.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•The Technology Support Technician will provide end user support to remedy computer, audio/visual, basic network, printing, and other technology related issues in a timely and professional manner. Solutions may be provided remotely or onsite as appropriate.

•The Technology Support Technician will work collaboratively with stakeholders to schedule and manage daily workload and special projects. The Technology Support
Technician will be responsible for coordinating and deploying the daily work of Contracted Services to ensure efficient remedy of Help Desk support requests.

•The Technology Support Technician will be responsible for assisting and informing the purchasing process, configuring and installing new devices, and assisting with inventory management.

•The Technology Support Technician will be responsible for assisting and escalating support issues to the Information Services Manager(s) as appropriate.

•The Technology Support Technician will be responsible for communicating the status of technology Help Desk requests to users via ticketing system, phone, email, and other channels on an ongoing basis.

•The Technology Support Technician will be responsible for planning and conducting staff development related to the use of hardware and productivity software (Mac OS, Chrome OS, Windows, Google Workspace, etc.). Training may be conducted in a classroom setting, virtually, and other forms as necessary.

•The Technology Support Technician will provide an exemplary and professional interface between the Technology department and all customers by sending

and receiving email, phone, and in person communications to ensure that information flow is accurate, timely, and professional.

•The Technology Support Technician will assist the Director of Technology on projects and other tasks as requested by the Director of Technology.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE

•Associate Degree with three years of applicable technical work experience, or High School graduate with a minimum of five years applicable technical work experience.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•Minimum of three years experience supporting Cloud-based productivity suites (Office 365 or G Suite). • Intermediate to advanced proficiency supporting Windows OS client computing environments. A+ Certification preferred. Chrome OS and Mac OS experience a plus. • Familiarity with other learning technologies such as SMART Boards, LCD Projectors. Ability to troubleshoot basic networking issues. • Self Starter with exemplary customer service skills to complement proven multitasking abilities. Ability to provide effective support to all levels of the organization. • Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast paced technical environment, • Ability to work fantastically well with technical and nontechnical users.

Physical demands of the job are as follows:
Sitting - some Standing - often Walking often. Bending - some. Stooping - some.
Lifting may involve periodic moving/lifting of heavy items exceeding 50 lbs. Extraneous situations may arise for which additional physical demands may be required

It is also anticipated that stress will be associated with this position primarily due to the demands of this position. It is necessary that the individual have the capacity to remain calm, considerate, and tactful under stressful and unanticipated situations.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

•Individuals must exercise a high level of confidentiality in handling staff and student information.
•District technology staff must drive to school sites regularly throughout the workday.
oA valid US license and a clean driving record are required.
oEmployees utilizing personal vehicles are offered reimbursement for mileage based on US per-diem rate.
