JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, a School Counselor will plan, coordinate, and organize the delivery of programs and services to support and promote the cognitive, career, social, and personal development of all students in PreK through the 12th grade environment. This position will facilitate district programing to build and grow the comprehensive implementation of counseling programs while adhering to state and federal law.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Implement and maintain a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic, career, social, and emotional development for all students.

2. Delivers a systematic developmental guidance curriculum and assists in the tailoring to school and/or student needs. Provides assistance to teachers, i.e. program development, and educating students.

3. Provide training on topics such as but not limited to bullying, drug and/or alcohol abuse, college and career planning for staff, students, parents, etc.

4. Collect and assess systemic program data, i.e. attendance rates, to identify needs and challenges.

5. Develop and maintain a written plan for the effective delivery of the school counseling program on the North Carolina Comprehensive School Counseling standard course of study as well as individual school data.

6. Serve as a liaison to students, parents, and other internal and external stakeholders to enhance their work and support of students.

7. Administers small group counseling, short term individual counseling and referrals for long term support
