Position: Assistant Principal, Elementary, Middle, or High School
Location: To Be Determined
Terms of Contract: 10.5 months position, full-time, benefit eligible
Monthly Salary: State Salary Schedule (plus local supplement)
Elementary: 7.75%; Middle: 9%; High: 10.75%
Reports To: School Principal
FLSA: EXEMPT
Qualifications/Requirements:- Candidates must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Principal license
- Training in the N.C. Educator Effectiveness System or its equivalent is preferred
- Required to obtain a bus license
Duties: Assist the Principal in completing the following:- Serve as the leader of buses and discipline
- Serve as the chief administrator of the school in developing and implementing policies, programs, curricular and co-curricular activities and budgets in a manner that promotes the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member
- Conceptualize School Board goals and plan to ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the total school program
- Ensure that the school program is compatible with the legal, financial and organizational structure of the school system
- Define the responsibilities and accountability of staff
- Provide activities that facilitate growth of school staff and enhance the quality of the instructional program
- Identify the annual objectives for the instructional programs of the school
- Involve faculty in the development of specific curricular objectives to meet the needs of the school program
- Establish, implement and evaluate procedures used to carry out the daily routine of the school
- Evaluate student's progress in the instructional program through the use of up-to-date student data
- Supervise and appraise performance of the school staff
- Maintain positive school and district communication and maintain positive communication with the community
- Adhere to Board of Education policies and follow established procedures
- Orient new staff members and new students to the school program and provide assistance in their adjustment
- Maintain positive relations with the public, encourage the use of community resources and coordinate the community use of school facilities
- Manage, direct, and maintain records/inventory of materials, supplies and equipment that are necessary to carry out the daily school routine
- Participate in selection of all school staff members
- Maintain own professional competence by attending conferences, workshops and college classes that focus on educational trends
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the superintendent
- Must be able to perform heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of forces frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects
