The Building Maintenance Tech is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school environment, overseen by the Facilities Leadership, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.

All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Building Maintenance Technician

Salary Schedule: PCSD Classified

Reports To: Maintenance Director/Maintenance Supervisor

Work Schedule: Annual/8 hours per day

Grade/Level: E-2

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Primary Function: Perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and construction duties in the maintenance of District buildings, facilities, and equipment .

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard

Driving a vehicle to conduct work

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time

Regular exposure to fumes, dust, and odors

Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, feel, talk, hear, crawl, and to read a variety of printed and coded materials

Seasonal hear and cold or adverse weather conditions

Ability to work indoors and outdoors during all types of weather including hot, cold, rainy, humid, and dry conditions

Lifting to 40lbs

Qualifications:

Minimum of a high school diploma or GED

Minimum of one (1) year successful maintenance experience with knowledge of methods, equipment and materials used in general maintenance work

Must possess a valid driver's license, have dependable transportation, and have a good driving record

The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.

Essential Functions:

Perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and construction duties in the maintenance of District buildings, facilities, and equipment

Perform various skilled duties such as carpentry, glazing, plastering, locksmithing, painting, plumbing, welding, roofing, electrical, heating, air conditions, ventilation, and refrigeration systems

Inspect District and school buildings

Install, repair and refurbish cabinets, bookcases and a variety of other classroom furniture and equipment

Install, maintain, and repair shelving, bulletin boards and chalk/white boards as needed

Assemble, move, pick up, and deliver various furniture and equipment as directed

Install and repair floor and ceiling tiles, counter tops, windows, and latches

Patch and paint damaged walls and doors

Replace locks in doors and cabinets

Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools and equipment

Communicate problems/concerns with equipment to appropriate manager/supervisor

Make recommendations which will improve job performance and/or equipment reliability as appropriate

Work without constant supervision

Complete all assigned work orders including special project work

Maintain all tools and equipment used in performance of job responsibilities

Maintain clean work site

Complete all paperwork in a timely manner, obtaining proper signatures from the issuing administrator

Estimate time, material and supply needs to complete assigned jobs

Assist in ordering materials as directed

Report immediately safety hazards which affect the welfare of students and district employees
