Job Description

Provide the campus stability and health care that our students require from a licensed vocational nurse. Implement, under the direction of a licensed registered nurse, a comprehensive program of health services for students that promote positive health outcomes and disease/injury prevention programs. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations, including daily attendance, punctuality, and confidentiality.

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities

1. Provide health program services on assigned campus(es) under the supervision of the nurse supervisor and/or registered nurse facilitator.

2. Provide skilled nursing care for students whose condition is stable and predictable.
3. Serve as a health resource for families and school personnel and act as a liaison with community servicesand providers.
4. Participate in district and campus staff development programs that improve job related skills, and complete continuing education requirements for licensure.
5. Conduct Contact Tracing on assigned campus(es) under the supervision of the nurse supervisor and/or

registered nurse facilitator.
6. Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expectedfor this position.

Minimum Requirements

• Graduate of a state approved School of Vocational Nursing.

• Licensed as a Vocational Nurse in the State of Texas.

• CPR certified.

• Successfully completed John Hopkins University Contact Tracing course.

• 2+ year as an LVN in a clinical setting.

• Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy.

• Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

• Excellent ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, families, district personnel, and the community

• Knowledge of practical nursing techniques, procedures, ethical principles, health education, wellness promotion and inventory control.

• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, as well as a member of a team, to provide assistance to students.

• Demonstrated ability to utilize computer software.

• Demonstrate ability to follow the core values: integrity, high expectations, commitment, respect, dedication to teamwork and passion for a student- centered environment.

Working Conditions Work Environment:

• Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.

• Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.

Physical Demands/Requirements:

• Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines; frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, pulling and pushing; reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity and prolonged data input; occasional lift/carry light, moderate 15-44 pounds.
