The Education Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the application of special education policy and procedures, supervised by the Principal and in collaboration with Don Watson Academy's Administrative Team. The Education Coordinator will organize and oversee all Team meetings and ensure compliance with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and all regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

DON WATSON ACADEMY
The Don Watson Academy is a state-approved special education residential and day school that serves students 6-18 years of age with social emotional disabilities. The student enrollment averages between 40-50 students, including students residing at the Residential Program and an average of 30-35 Day Students from the surrounding communities.
-Serve as a member of the Administrative Team along with the Program Director and Clinician, who together represent educational, transition-focused and clinical roles in service of optimum program leadership.
-Oversee the development of Individual Education Programs (IEPs) for all students utilizing Frontline.
-Utilize multiple technological platforms, including DESE's Security Portal, and portals for MCAS administration to meet communication and information sharing needs of the school.
-Work collaboratively with educational team, including developing a team atmosphere and effective supervision and support of teaching assistants as assigned.
-Provide support to the educational team to ensure the management of classrooms that meets the students' needs for safety, routines and protocols, educational growth and social/emotional development.
-Schedule, attend and facilitate all IEP meetings.
-MA certification in Moderate Disabilities (5-12).
-Minimum of one (1) year administrative/supervisory experience.
-Minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching youth with disabilities preferred.
-Knowledge and experience using a variety of teaching strategies and techniques.

The Robert F.
