Job Description
To assist in the attainment of District goals through safe and courteous supervision of children being transported between home and school.
Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
1. Assist students with the load/unload process following prescribed policies and procedures.
2. Supervise behavior of children while on the bus applying effective student management techniques and reports misconduct to appropriate administrator/supervisor.
3. Instruct students on safe riding rules and responsibilities as riders including emergency bus evacuation.
4. Establish and maintain good rapport with students, parents, school personnel and co-workers.
5. Assist with securing appropriate child safety restraint systems.
6. Report involvement in any accident/incident, job related injury, or passenger injury to immediatesupervisor or within required timeline. Complete required reports.
7. Attend and complete required training.
8. Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilitiesexpected for this position.
Minimum Requirements
• High school diploma or GED equivalent recognized by the Texas Education Agency or regional accrediting agency.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Must be available to work AM and PM school routes, field trips, and other assignments as directed by the Transportation Department.
• Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Manual skills necessary to perform bus monitor work.
• Ability to model courteous and respectful behavior for students.

Working Conditions Work Environment:
• Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.
• Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.
Physical Demands/Requirements:
• Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines; frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, pulling and pushing; reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity and prolonged data input; occasional lift/carry light, moderate 15-44 pounds.
