Exceptional Children Ancillary Support Specialist
Term of Employment: 11 months
Compensation: Teacher Salary Schedule + Supplement/Stipend
Reports to: Executive Director of Exceptional Children
Purpose: Serves the students and staff of RSS by designing, leading and facilitating the Ancillary Services Team within the
EC Department. This role provides direct and indirect supervision of staff on the Behavior, Autism and Assistive
Technology Teams. This role coordinates the supports available to students, provides leadership and comprehensive
district plans to address the scope of Ancillary Services as a provision of special education services.
Qualifications
Minimum
?? Five (5) years of teaching experience working with students with disabilities
?? Bachelor's or Master's Degree in special education
?? North Carolina Teaching License in any Exceptional Children area
?? Knowledge and understanding of Functional Behavior Assessments & Behavior Intervention Plans
?? Direct Experience working with students with Autism in the school setting
?? Experience collecting and analyzing data to create comprehensive plans
?? Experience analyzing state and local special education data
Preferred
?? District experience in special education
?? NC Administrators licensure
?? BCBA or comparable licensure
?? 2 years of leadership experience in the field
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
?? Assess and organize data from student management systems related to behavior and discipline
?? Develop and maintain grant and other federal reporting requirements
?? Maintain student data related to strategic plan outcomes
?? Create and Deliver Professional Learning
?? Design and prepare data, reports, tables, charts, and graphs as needed
?? Report data findings to the EC Director
?? Support classroom teachers with implementation of BIPs and Crisis Plans
?? Work directly with vendors
?? Supervise Leads in the areas of the Ancillary Teams
?? Work directly with DPI and other partnerships
?? Supervise Specialized Behavior Technicians and associated contracts
?? Attend monthly district-wide leadership meetings
?? Attend other assigned professional development
?? Coordinate specialized programs for behavior and autism
?? Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director or Assistant Director
