Maintenance

Position Purpose:

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Buildings & Grounds, to maintain school buildings and building and grounds in orderly, neat, safe and operable condition.

Essential Performance Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for performing all aspect of repairs and maintenance work, landscape work, and snow removal for all school buildings and grounds system wide.
  • Perform any and all duties as directed from the Facilities Buildings & Grounds and/or his designee.
Additional Duties:
  • Knowledge of building systems; electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and power plant operations.
  • Must be able to perform minor electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and power plant repairs.
  • Must be able to perform minor and major carpentry repairs including painting.
  • Heavy lifting of objects from 50 lbs. or more.
  • Work requires the ability to stoop, bend, reach, grab with arms and hands, manual dexterity, and on your feet for 8 hours.
  • Working knowledge of how to care for, operation, & use of power tools & equipment.
  • Able to work independent or with minimal supervision.
  • Able to perform all aspects of snow removal 24/7 during and non-school hours.
  • Ability to perform and knowledge of all aspects of landscaping.
  • Will be trained to layout and paint athletic fields.
  • Ability to work at various heights including ladders, aerial lifts, staging, and roofs.
  • Able to respond to call-ins and emergency after hours and weekends.
  • Will be issued an Ipad and cell phone to conduct day to day operations.
  • Operates a vehicle, services, cleans vehicle/equipment.
  • Must have a valid state Driver's license.
Safety Requirements:
  • Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment used.
  • Wears appropriate safety gear.
Travel Requirements:
  • Frequent travel between schools, or between schools and central offices, may be required.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:
  • Ability to withstand heights and work in crawl spaces.
  • Typical risks associated with using tools of the trade.
  • Occasional strenuous physical work.
  • Occasional work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
Qualifications Profile:

Education:


Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Successful experience in building and grounds maintenance, and repair.
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's license or ability to provide own transportation.
