Job Description

Work under the guidance and direction of a licensed registered nurse to provide and administer medication, maintain routine clinic records, provide minor first aid care, and conduct health screenings. Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities

1. Provide minor first aid services at assigned campus and other requested campuses under the guidance of the licensed nurse, nurse coordinator and/or Health Services administrative staff.

2. Follow observation, recording and reporting guidelines in accordance with District and Student Health Services protocols and procedures.

3. Assist with routine record keeping as requested by nurse.
4. Assist and perform routine screening tests (i.e. hearing/vision) as requested by school nurse and as

certified.
5. Observe students for signs of illness and consult campus nurse or administrative staff as required.
6. Dispense medication as instructed.
7. Provide services at assigned campus(es) and/or other campuses as needed (may require travel during

workday).
8. Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expectedfor this position.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency or higher

• Medical Assistant certification plus six (6) months experience in a health care setting OR one (1) year full- time experience in a medical facility, hospital, nursing home, school clinic or physician's office.

• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

• Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee

• Knowledge of and ability to implement first aid procedures.

• Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.

• Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team to provide assistance to students.

• Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision.

• Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality

• Excellent ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, families, district personnel, business partners, and community.

• Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships. Working Conditions Work Environment:

• Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.

• Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.

Physical Demands/Requirements:

• Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines; frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, pulling and pushing; reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity and prolonged data input; occasional lift/carry light, moderate 15-44 pounds.
