Job Description

To provide Army instructions in supporting the mission of motivating young people to be better citizens, teach and provide leadership opportunities, facilitate community service, and academic excellence, facilitate successful completion of high school, to develop the necessary skills to graduate college or a service academy, serve in the military or successful enter the workforce.

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities


1. Actively recruit students to enroll in JROTC.
2. Achieve desired learning goals by teaching prescribed JROTC subjects listed in the Program of Instruction.
3. Maintain proficiency in military subjects within the core curriculum.
4. Modify and improve given instruction by remaining continuously alert to new and alternative instructional

methods and motivational techniques.
5. Maintain arms and supply facilities in strict compliance with Army security regulations .
6. Comply with Army and school district safety guidelines in all instances when instructing, supervising, monitoring, accompanying or escorting cadets.
7. Insures training/coaching of all AJROTC Teams as an extracurricular activity.
8. Actively participates in drill team and other AJROTC competitions on required evenings or weekends.
9. Comply with the Texas Educator's Code of Ethics.
10. Demonstrate the following core values: integrity, high expectations, commitment, respect, dedication to

teamwork and passion for a student-centered environment.
11. Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.

Minimum Requirements

• Associate's degree from an accredited college or university within five years after their initial hiring.
• Possess the qualifications prescribed by Army Regulation 145 -2 and Cadet Command Regulation 145-2.
• Be certified as a JROTC Instructor through U.S. Army Cadet Command.
• Honorably served for a minimum of ten years as Army Non-commissioned (between E6 through E-9) or

Warrant Officer.

• Perform additional duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned by DAI.
• Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee

(approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.

Job Description • Must successfully pass the Childcare National Agency Check with Inquiries (CNACI).

• Must have a current physical examination and be willing to complete professional development training

as required by U.S. Army Cadet Command.
• Must be Computer literate.

Working ConditionsWork Environment: • Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.
• Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional

exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.

Physical Demands/Requirements: • Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines; frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, pulling and pushing; reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity and prolonged data input; occasional lift/carry light, moderate 15-44 pounds.

• Must be able to walk at least three miles during a parade.

• Manage cadets participating in JROTC program.
