Days: Full or Part time, up to 5 days per week
General Description:Provides supplemental aids and services, including instruction in Braille to enable students who have a visual disability, to progress in the general curriculum and advance appropriately toward attaining annual IEP goals.
Qualifications: - Ohio Department of Education Teacher's Certification/Licensure in Vision Impairments
- Training and experience in teaching students with Vision Impairments and working effectively with educators and families
- Satisfactory result of BCI/FBI background checks
Main Responsibilities and Essential Functions:- Provides instruction and consultation services to VI students
- Provides consultation to district staff and families
- Attends IEP meetings
- Selects and develops instructional materials and equipment
- Serves as a liaison between district staff and other agencies
- Serves as a resource to staff on issues related vision impairments.
- Conducts comprehensive assessments of students
- Evaluates student progress
- Keeps abreast of techniques and innovations in the assigned position via attendance and pertinent training.
- Responds constructively to supervision
- Participates in Team meetings, Staff Development
- Manages time to accomplish duties and implements strategies to deal with completing work priorities.
- Maintains records, collects outcome results
- Develops and follows an accurate schedule of services
- Complete reports and other documents, as needed
Abilities Required:- Demonstrates professionalism and maintains a positive work attitude.
- Effectively uses verbal, nonverbal, writing, and listening skills.
- Completes paperwork accurately. Verifies and correctly enters data and computer documentation.
- Organizes tasks and manages time effectively.
