Job Description

Provide guidance in the attainment of District goals through effective and efficient maintenance, installation and repair of building plumbing, irrigation, and related mechanical systems. Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities

1. Leads in installations, services, and repairs of piping system for water, gas, drains and compressed air using excellent knowledge.

2. Performs minor maintenance on refrigerated water fountains.
3. Leads services, repairs, and adjusts mixing valves, backflow preventer devices, regulators and other

valves.
4. Leads in installations, maintenance, and repairs of commercial water heaters and circulating systems.
5. Leads in the maintenance and cleanup of existing plumbing systems and grease traps using electric

operated augers.
6. Reads and interprets plans, diagrams and code requirements, with latitude for independent judgement, for proper and safe installation of plumbing system using excellent knowledge.
7. Supervises Irrigation contractor to maintain, repair and test landscape irrigation systems.
8. May direct the work of others in completing large scale projects.
9. May train lower-level plumbers.
10. Maintain accurate and timely work order records
11. Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expectedfor this position.

Minimum Requirements

• Four-year or vocational college education (from an accredited college or vocational school) or equivalent experience

• 8+ years of related experience

• Texas State Board of Pluming Examiners (TSBPE) License

• Strong experience in plumbing

• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

• Candidate may work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs.

• Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee

Preferred Requirements

• Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) License Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy.

• Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and federal policies, including daily attendance, punctuality, and confidentiality.

• Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques.

• Knowledge of plumbing codes. Working Conditions Work Environment:

• Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.

• Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.

Physical Demands/Requirements:

• Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines; frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, pulling and pushing; reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity and prolonged data input; occasional lift/carry light, moderate 15-44 pounds.
