Greene County Educational Service Center: Operated by the GCESC, the Preschool Program is located in Bellbrook and has a combination of children from Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Schools. The program serves children ages 3-5. This is a public school position including 50% of students with disabilities and 50% without disabilities. This person would be working as a paraprofessional in the classroom. The hours are 8:00-3:00, Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday, Friday (no school on Wednesdays) during the school year.
Qualifications:- Meet one of the following: Associate's Degree or higher, 48 semester hours, or passing score on State Board of Education ParaPro Assessment
- Valid Ohio Department of Education Educational Aide Permit
- Experience and/or training with preschool aged students is a plus but not mandatory
- Experience working with children with special needs and/or visual impairments is a plus but not mandatory
- Meet legal requirements relative to a criminal background check
- Maintain acceptable attendance record and punctuality
General Description: - Assist teacher and other preschool staff working with children ages 3-5 in a small preschool setting that accommodates children with special needs
- Assist preschool aged child(ren) with daily tasks, routines, picture schedules, work
- Take teacher direction and implement assigned tasks into daily routines
- Work collaboratively with preschool staff to provide a multidisciplinary team approach
- Work collaboratively with teacher in best interest of children
- Must meet preschool licensure laws with PD hours and develop an OCCRRA account
- Must be trained or willing to be trained in Communicable Disease, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, CPR, and CPI
- Duties may require lifting, carrying, standing, reaching, bending, crouching, and/or kneeling.
- Duties may include diapering or potty training and assisting with personal care tasks; assistance with low-vision needs as directed by school nurse and/or visual impairment specialist
- Must maintain an updated physical every 3 years
- Potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens and communicable diseases.
- Potential for interaction with disruptive and/or unruly children
Salary: In accordance with the GCESC salary schedule; starting salary begins around $17+ per hour and commensurates with training and experience
