Northridge Local School district is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Director of Special Education and Student Services.

Reports To: Superintendent

Position Summary

The Director of Special Education and Student Services provides leadership and oversight for all special education programs and student support services. The Director ensures compliance with federal and state laws, including IDEA, Section 504, ADA, Ohio Revised Code, and Ohio Department of Education and Workforce requirements, while promoting student achievement, inclusion, and equitable access to services.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Administration or related field.
  • Valid Ohio Administrative License (e.g. Principal, Supervisor, or Superintendent).
  • Minimum of five years' experience in special education instruction or leadership.
  • Skills in behavioral management substantiated by training and work experience.
  • Adheres to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.
  • Complies with drug-free workplace rules, board policies and administrative guidelines/procedures.
  • Embodies high ethical standards/integrity. Accepts personal responsibility for decisions/conduct.
  • Exhibits consistent, impartial and resourceful decision-making skills. Interprets information accurately. Evaluates options thoroughly. Develops reasonable solutions to resolve issues.
  • Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
  • Meets all mandated health screening requirements
Essential Responsibilities
  • Direct and supervise district special education and student services programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and Ohio special education requirements.
  • Oversee evaluations, eligibility determinations, ETRs, IEPs, and related services.
  • Supervise special education staff and support personnel.
  • Coordinate Section 504 services and student support programs.
  • Provide training and guidance to administrators, teachers, and staff.
  • Manage special education budgets, grants, and program resources.
  • Monitor district compliance, data reporting, and state requirements.
  • Collaborate with families, community agencies, and educational partners.
  • Serve as the district liaison for special education matters and legal compliance.
  • Provide regular reports and recommendations to the Superintendent and Board of Education.
