Virtual ESOL Instructor for TSD9 Parents

Extra Duty Contract

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to prepare and teach English lessons to TSD9 parents who are non-native English speakers

• Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills in English

• Proficiency in Spanish preferred

• Experience teaching English learners, ESOL endorsement and knowledge of GLAD or SIOP strategies

preferred

• Experience teaching adults preferred

• Knowledge of/experience with online meeting platforms, such as Zoom and/or Google Meet

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Prepare and teach English lessons for adult students with diverse backgrounds, skills and needs

• Teach reading, writing, listening, and speaking with an emphasis on basic interpersonal communication skills

• Be willing to be a resource for parents in helping them navigate systems within the school district

• Utilize student and/or adult volunteers effectively

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :

• $30 per hour (up to 4 hours per week of planning/instruction)

• 1 evening per week

• 16-18 weeks
