Job Description

Our Drama Counselor will create and teach curriculum for children, aged from 8 to 15. You will be responsible for working on small projects to teach the fundamentals of drama while keeping it fun, diverse, educational and age-appropriate. Working as Camp's Drama Counselor, you will tailor plays, shows and/or musicals to fit them into an assigned length of time and be age appropriate for boys and girls, aged from 4 to 15. The job includes the designing of a set and choosing of costumes and dialogue. You will also be responsible for running activity periods for groups of up to 15 children at a time, assisted by 1 or 2 counselors. The Drama Counselor position is perfectly suited to a student or teacher (or similar) who has some drama experience

Essential:

Must have graduated high school.
An enthusiastic, motivated individual.
The knowledge and ability to explain and organize either small theatrical productions and dance performances to children aged 4-12.
The ability to communicate, with patience and clarity, with children and co-workers.
Experience of theatrical productions and performing arts.
Ability to address stressful situations appropriately in a fast paced, interactive environment
Everwood Day Camp is an outdoor focused summer camp featuring many physically demanding activities on land and water. Staff members are regularly required to walk, hike and otherwise move in woods, fields, beaches, and lakes. To perform the job, each staff member of Everwood Day Camp must be physically able to travel around a large rural environment (fields, woods, beach, etc.) over uneven ground on a regular basis. DATES, HOURS AND PAY

9:00am to 3:30pm (this includes a 30-minute break per day)
June 28th to Aug 27th (9 wks, preferred) or Aug 20th (8 wks) and hours are guaranteed.
Mon to Fri each week except for July 5th when we are closed.
Salary range is $2300 and up for 9 weeks of work.
Extra income can be made (up to $1000), working as a Bus Counselor or Extended Day staff.

Preferred:

1.) Experience of working with children
2.) Experience of organizing theatrical productions that include music, singing, costumes and choreography.
3.) Performing Arts or Theatrical Education and Certification

LOCATION

Sharon, MA but with free bus transportation from all over MA and RI!
Housing is NOT included.
