At Rocketship Public Schools, we believe in the infinite possibility of human potential. We believe that every student deserves the right to dream, to discover, and to develop their unique potential. And it is our responsibility and our privilege to unleash the potential inside every Rocketeer we serve. Our non-profit network of public elementary charter schools propels student achievement, develops exceptional educators, and partners with parents who enable high-quality public schools to thrive in their community.
Rocketship Public Schools is looking for an outstanding analyst for our Analytics team. The Data Analyst will report to the Analytics Manager on the Analytics Team. Key responsibilities include:
Data Product Development ~30%
You will use a user-centered design process to develop data products for our schools and network teams. What data cuts and visualizations would enable teachers to quickly identify and group students that need deeper support? What metrics should go on a dashboard for school leaders to track the health of their school? The data products you work on could range from creating new data tables, views or structures, designing visualizations/reports for staff, or developing resources and trainings to use the data tools. You would have the opportunity to work closely with our teachers, school leaders, and network staff to ensure that your products are well-suited to their needs and use cases.
Building and Managing Data Systems Across Rocketship ~40%
Strong data systems are critical to data integrity and ensuring efficient and high quality analysis. In coordination with the Analytics Manager, you will manage data flow from external and internal sources to Network teams and the data warehouse. You will organize and systematize nightly/daily ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) jobs using a variety of tools (such as R, SQL and Python).
Driving Analytical Insight Across the Network ~30%
As a member of Rocketship's Analytics Team, you will use data tools and insights to drive programmatic improvements at our schools. You will manage data tables and data sources in the data warehouse to create the structures necessary to maximize insight from collected data. You will work with Tableau to edit, update and create new visualizations to create insight across all levels of stakeholders in the organization.
The position will be based at our national headquarters in Redwood City, CA. We expect the analyst to meet regularly with school and network staff in San Jose and Oakland, CA. There may be occasional travel to schools in Nashville, Milwaukee, and Washington DC.
