Job Description

Organization: Moonshot edVentures

Organization Type: 501(c)(3)

Job Location: Denver, Colorado (must live in Denver, CO full-time)

Type of Job: Full-Time

Application Deadline: Applications accepted on an ongoing basis

NOTE TO POTENTIAL APPLICANTS: This is a rescope of the Director of Leadership and Learning (DLL) role that we previously posted. We previously sought applicants with school founding and principal experience. We learned through the process that our needs are best met if we hire someone who is highly adept at running fellowship programs and can manage an “expert bench” comprised of school and program founders who can provide personalized coaching to our Fellows.

Moonshot edVentures, a mission-driven and values-based organization, is focused on building the pipeline of diverse leaders to design and launch the schools of tomorrow in Metro Denver. Unlike other school incubators across the country, Moonshot’s School Launcher Fellowship is focused on broadening the tent of individuals who consider launching schools and programs by identifying leaders at least 2 or 3 years away from launching their idea, and then provides them with high-quality, comprehensive programming focused on leadership development, model design, and identifying the right pathway to launch. Moonshot also connects Fellows to local and national experts critical to Fellows’ success, and ensures Fellows build a strong community within and across cohorts. Over the last two years, Moonshot has become a model for other cities that demonstrates the possibility of surfacing a more diverse set of leaders interested in doing school differently. Moonshot has supported 31 Fellows with plans to lead charter schools, district turnaround schools, microschools, and after school programs, and plans to support 15-20 more Fellows in its third cohort in the Fall of 2019.

Ideal candidates are outstanding facilitators with a track record of supporting fellowship programs, have experience in facilitating racially diverse audiences, can manage external facilitators and advisors, and are energized by working in early stage, flexible, startup nonprofits.
