Position Title: Licensed Social Worker

Terms of Employment: 196 days (190 days + 6 Holidays)

Union Classification: Non-Union

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Qualifications:
Masters degree in Social Work (MSW)
Licensed as a mental health professional in New Hampshire as LSW; preference given to a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW)
Three years experience in a mental health with practical experience in a school setting preferred
Counseling, Interviewing, & Crisis Intervention Skills
Ability to handle confidential information with complete security
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage time effectively to meet caseload expectations
Ability to work collaboratively as an interdisciplinary team member in order to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community agencies, students, families and school personnel
Strong cultural competency skills
Valid driver's license and ability to drive as travel is required across the district
Available for a work schedule that meets the needs of students and families

Reports to: Special Education Director

Evaluation: Annually

Job Goal: To assist in the identification of students' developmental capabilities, problem-solving skills and coping mechanisms while working collaboratively with their parents / caregivers and school personnel through the development of treatment plans, consultation sessions, direct therapeutic interventions and program supports.

Performance Duties:
Perform casework service with individual students to address personal, social, and/or emotional concerns that are impacting learning and social progress
Perform casework services with parents / caregivers to increase their understanding of their child's needs, assist with the development of constructive participation in resolving conflicts / problems, and improve their knowledge and use of appropriate community resources available
Consult and collaborate with school personnel in gathering information on a case-by-case basis and assist in the planning for how to best address a child's needs
Develop treatment plans and work collaboratively with school personnel and families / caregivers in the consistent implementation of the plans
Provide direct therapeutic interventions and/or counseling services to students as needed
Serve as a liaison between home and school when considerable follow-up is necessary
Assist and supervise the referral of students to various community agencies when appropriate
Assist students directly with their adjustment to school
Participate in preventative response to intervention meetings and assist in the implementation of suggestions to address students' social, emotional and behavioral needs
Collect data on students' progress toward identified social, emotional and behavioral goals as specified in their individualized educational plans
Plan and manage a schedule that effectively meets students' needs
Offer professional development opportunities to administration and teachers on how various mental health challenges can impact one's ability to socialize and learn effectively
Provide support and informational workshops to families / caregivers
Participate on school and district-wide threat assessment and crisis intervention teams
Conduct social-emotional and risk assessment screenings when required
Assure that all internal communication is complete and effective as related to the responsibilities of working therapeutically with students and collaboratively with staff, families and outside agencies
Maintain accurate records of cases for use by school personnel and outside agencies as appropriate
Submit logs for Medicaid billing in a timely manner
Remain up-to-date on the current empirically-based approaches recommended for children and young adults with psychological and behavioral challenges
Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Education Director

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. The employee will occasionally be required to stand, walk, bend and reach. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 15 pounds. Manual dexterity is required to finger, handle or grasp objects. Must be able to hear and talk. Ability to drive required to travel when necessary within and outside of the District.
