Noble is Chicago’s highest-performing and largest network of public charter high schools. Noble opened in 1999 with the mission of preparing low income students with the scholarship, discipline, and honor necessary to succeed in college and lead exemplary lives, and to serve as a catalyst for education reform in Chicago. Noble’s 18 campuses currently serve over 12,000 students, of whom 98% are minority, 87% are low-income, and 82% are first-generation college goers.

Job Description

Noble is now in its 20th year and has graduated more than 12,600 students since its founding in 1999. Across the Network, over 20 staff are currently supporting 5,000+ of these graduates as they persist in college around the country. However, thousands of our graduates are not currently enrolled in college and do not have their bachelor’s degrees. We are launching a new program in 2019 to provide college access and intensive supports to these alumni. This program, called Noble Forward, is a partnership with Southern New Hampshire University. The Forward Success Coach (FSC) role will be responsible for providing individualized support and guidance for a cohort of students while they are enrolled in an online, competency-based college program, with the objective of supporting students in navigating academic coursework as well as coaching and mentoring students to develop the skills they need to thrive in college and professional life. The FSC builds and maintains meaningful student relationships, develops a strong knowledge of the academic program, and leverages quantitative and qualitative data to coach and advise students toward college completion.

This position is for start in June or July 2019.

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates will be service oriented, comfortable with data, and have a sense of humor.

Candidates should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years experience working in a high functioning, fast-paced organization
  • A belief that all students can succeed in college and life
  • An understanding of the academic, financial and social factors that impact college persistence
  • Experience directly advising and mentoring low-income and first-generation students, ideally in the context of college persistence
  • Ability to build genuine, empathetic and supportive relationships while maintaining high expectations for students
  • A data-driven mindset with a history of aggressively delivering measurable results
  • The discipline to self-manage, self-reflect and the hunger to continuously improve
  • Flexibility around scheduling and travel, including willingness and ability to work some evening hours each week and/or travel between neighborhoods in Chicago
