Role Mission: With the mission of ensuring that IDEA has a strong teacher pipeline , t he Mentor Founding Teacher in Residence is a coaching and mentoring role focused on developing Jacksonville Teacher Fellows and Founding Teachers in Residence to perform at a high-level when they enter Year 1 of teaching at IDEA . The Mentor Founding Teacher utilizes both IDEA and Relay Graduate School of Education (GSE) coaching methods and partners with campus coaches , Jacksonville Region, and the Teacher Residency team, to assure that our newest schools are staffed with teachers who are experts in IDEA's culture, curriculum, and pedagogy . The year-long in-class residency program and first year of full-time teaching assures extraordinary outcomes for IDEA students.


90% of Jacksonville Founding Teachers Fellows and Founding Teacher s in Residence retained
  • Conduct regular touchpoints with fellows
  • Collaborate with Director o f Teacher Residency , Teacher Residency Coach , Host Site, and Regional Team to align strategies and support for r etention

85 % of 1 st Year Jacksonville Founding Teacher Fellows participating in RELAY begin the 2020-2021 Academic Year as Lead Teachers
  • Support facilitation of deliberate practice and follow up with individual residents as directed by the Direc tor of Teacher Residency
  • Engage in regular touch points with Direc tor of Teacher Residency and T eacher R esidency C oach to review resident progress and align strategies forsupport

80 % GPTW Composite Score for all Jacksonville Founding Teachers Fellows and Founding Teachers in Residence
  • Conduct monthly pulse checks onGPTW
  • Execute strategies to increase GPTW data between pulse checks in collaboration with Director of Teacher Residency and hostcampus
90 % of Jacksonville Founding Teacher s in Residence (not those attending Relay) earn Level 3 placement on TCP as the lead teacher
  • Engage in regular touch points with host site and regional team to support foundingteachers
  • Supp ort founding teachers with planning, observations, trainings, or individual plans for teachers as determined in collaboration with the region and host campus
  • Model teach as determined in collaboration with Director of Teacher Residency , region, and host campus
  • Execute instructional webinars in support of student achievement as directed by the Director of Teacher Residency

100% of 2 nd year Residents on track to earn teaching certification
  • Conduct required number of field observations for designated 2 nd year residents
  • Complete all required documentation for submission to state certificationentity
  • Engage with Director of Teacher Residency for updates onresidents

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree required
  • Valid teacher certificationrequired
  • Experience: at least 2 years of IDEA teaching experience required; at least 5 years ' total teac her experience required
  • Experience in peer mentorship and leadership stronglypreferred

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ability to identify key stakeholders, build relationships, and influence decisions that impactgoals
  • Ability to understand and differentiate communication and training for various audiences and relationships
  • Operate with an organizational lens and encourage others to doso

Salaries for people entering this role typically start between $55,000 and $65,500, commensurate with relevant qualifications and experience. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organization goal attainment.
