Job Description


The Director of Student Culture & Support is a full-time position primarily charged with ensuring that Noble 1) meets legal compliance around its discipline & cultural practices, 2) is consistently implementing internal handbook policy, and 3) is continuously improving its overall culture, equity in discipline outcomes, and student retention across all campuses in the Network. The DSCS reports directly to the Chief Academic Officer.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Ensure General Compliance & Quality

  •  Work closely with the Campus Accountability Officer, conducting ~20% of the campus school audits
  • Regularly monitor culture-based data (student retention, demerits, suspensions, expulsions, etc), identifying areas of strengths and focusing campus and Network leadership’s attention and resources on areas of greatest concern/need, paying particular attention to issues of equity.
  • Troubleshoot around possible areas of concern (Network-wide or campus-specific) regarding any discipline and culture issues, including paperwork and processes around expulsion and suspensions.  This includes serving as the hearing officer for the suspension appeal process and conducting a monthly suspension audit process that assesses the quality and compliance of network wide discipline practices.
  • Work closely with the Director of Student Services and legal to ensure all campuses are in compliance with their culture and discipline-based interactions and paperwork with students with IEPs, 504s, and ELL status.
  • Serve as Noble’s single point person with both internal and external parties around discipline and culture, ensuring internal consistency in messaging and practice.  This involves maintaining relationships with local and state agencies that regulate Network compliance—and working closely with Noble legal to understand and determine Noble minimums—and keep relevant campus and Network personnel current of all federal, state, and local regulations concerning discipline.  

Facilitate the Development and Sharing of Discipline/Culture Best Practice

  • Maintain an open and healthy dialogue with campus principals, Deans of Discipline/Culture, and other key personnel (including relevant NST personnel) to ensure the ongoing investigation, documentation, and sharing of best practices in terms of discipline, culture, equity, and student retention.
  • Facilitate Network-wide Dean of Discipline/Culture meetings (August Onboarding, Network Collaboration, etc.) to provide resources to staff about shared issues, policies, procedures, and best practices. Build a supportive and inclusive community within this group—improving the communication, sharing, and overall growth amongst its members.
  • Serve as an ongoing resource for campus administration (Deans of Discipline/Culture, Principals, etc.) and manage appropriate knowledge management systems (Google site, etc.)—fielding and investigating questions they have regarding their discipline & culture, providing information around best practices to help inform campus decision-making, and tracking their resolution of challenging issues.
  • Foster strategic initiatives, through collaboration, working groups and committees, that grow the network’s capacity for restorative practices, equitable discipline outcomes, character development, and, ultimately, student retention.   This includes, but is not limited to, overseeing and/or supporting the launching of key initiatives tied to Noble’s 2019 Student Retention Steering Committee work (e.g. summer restorative programs, increased SEL supports, improved MTSS/SoC systems)

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.  A comprehensive compensation plan will include a bonus incentive and a competitive benefits package.
