REPORTS TO: Managing Director, Head of Foundation and Corporate Partnerships
LOCATION: Bay Area, CA
The Bay Area is one wealthiest regions in the world, and yet schools are routinely lacking the requisite resources to effectively serve our community’s most underserved students. As the Manager of Corporate and Foundation Partnerships at Teach for America Bay Area, you will build meaningful relationships to bridge the divide between the worlds of wealth and poverty, creating powerful champions for kids who are often unseen. Through storytelling, data analysis, and relationship building, you will raise approximately $2M in support of Teach For America Bay Area’s mission that one day, all children will access an excellent education.

- Steward A Portfolio of Foundations Donors - 75%
Overall Management of Portfolio (15%)
- Develop measures of success, craft strategies and determine key tactics in collaboration with the Managing Director, Foundations and Corporate Partnerships (MDFC) to ensure the region meets its foundation giving goals
- Plan and execute excellent donor interactions and communications for corporations and foundations within your portfolio (setting up meetings, touchpoints, marketing materials, follow-ups, etc.)
Donor Stewardship within the Portfolio (30%)
- Set up and maintain Donor Stewardship Plan for members of your portfolio.
- Innovate on strategies and use the stewardship plan and other systems (TFACT) to deepen partnerships, including planning and executing differentiated strategies of engagement that will lead to multiyear partnership and funding.
- Analyze the interests of donors to develop and tailor compelling pitches, campaigns, engagement strategies and stewardship activities.
- Prioritize key actions for the Executive Director (ED) and other senior leaders to take in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors through external meetings, events and correspondence, and follow up on what was accomplished by the ED and others.
Grant Writing (30%)
- Tell the story of Teach for America Bay Area through compelling grant narratives, data analysis, and pitches, including proposals, reports, and correspondence that are tailored to donor interests
- Compile and manage grants calendar to ensure all grants are completed and submitted on time
- Create and maintain up-to-date supplemental materials (e.g. financial documents, organizational charts, data, etc.)
- Diversify the Donor Portfolio by Identifying and Building Relationships with Prospective Donors - 10%
- Assess corporate and foundation philanthropy in the local landscape to inform goals and strategies
- Conduct research on donors and prospects to identify their capacity and interest in giving
- Analyze the interests of prospects to develop compelling pitches, campaigns, engagement strategies, and stewardship activities
- Meet with prospective donors to build connections and prepare the Executive Director and other senior leaders for interactions with potential donors.
- Manage Systems and Donor Database - 5%
- Maintain accurate donor records using Salesforce-based constituent relationship management (CRM)
- Contribute to team meetings and cross stream meetings in order to support the needs of development and program
- Contribute to TFA’s Broader Organizational Vision and Mission - 10%
- Participate in the selection of incoming corps members
- Engage in regional learning by attending meetings and professional development opportunities
