Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Development Operations Director, the Gift Processing Manager will be responsible for managing the organizations centralized gift processing, acknowledging, and reporting procedures for all of City Year’s 29 locations nationwide.  The position requires a very detail-oriented person with a background in working with many teams of people ideally in a development operations or finance role. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the checks and balances for receipt of gifts and pledges at headquarters and proper gift recording to sites through our centralized gift processing policies.  
  • Maintain all site and headquarters gift coding by reviewing all batch reports and gift documentation.
  • Ensure that all gift processing policies and procedures are followed for all gifts, pledges, and reporting in accordance with legal and industry required gift management policies.
  • Work closely with finance team to ensure accurate and timely monthly revenue reconciliation between the fundraising and financial databases.
  • Train all new site development staff on gift processing policies and processes in partnership with the Senior Development Operations Director.
  • Work with Senior Development Operations Director to ensure all reports and fundraising operations needs are met.
  • Insure reporting accuracy and data integrity.
  • Assist in gift processing as needed during the higher gift volume months.
  • Work on special finance or development operations projects as assigned by the Vice President of Development Operations and Office of the Controller.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years with gift processing or accounting experience, preferably in an accounting, finance, or non-profit development nonprofit office
  • Experience with fundraising database software packages; familiarity with Salesforce preferred
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment
  • Ability to develop relationships with co-workers and employees in other City year locations and departments through effective communication
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of donor information and development records 
  • Experience working in complex environments with a high degree of organizational effectiveness
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees
