Job Description

Join National Heritage Academies (NHA) as a Data Warehouse ETL Developer. This position will report directly to the Director of Business Intelligence in the Information & Analystics department and will be the primary technical resource in developing and maintaining NHA’s large and complex data warehouse solution.

In this role you will work out of our corporate headquarters (Service Center) located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The NHA Service Center is where all the behind-the-scenes magic happens. Your Role

  • Design and implement ETL (extract, transform, load) processes
  • Work with business owners to define project milestones and requirements
  • Perform data profiling and modeling
  • Create documentation of code, business processes, project requirements, etc
  • Perform user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure data accuracy
  • Support, maintain, and monitor ETL processes
  • Resolve errors and data issues in a timely manner
  • Participate in required after-hours ETL monitoring rotation
  • Be self-directed and comfortable working independently

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with SQL Server 2008, 2012, 2014, or 2016, or equivalent RDBMS software
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS / SSDT) 2008, 2013, 2016 or equivalent ETL software
  • Strong SQL knowledge: ability to write highly efficient queriest, familiar with DDL, DML and TCL, and experience creating and modifying stores procedures, indexes, views and functions
  • Familiar with data warehousing concepts: database normalization, star vs. snowflake schema
  • Knowledge of dimensional modeling techniques - preferred 
  • SQL server performance tuning and indexing experience; understands how to interpret execution plans - preferred
  • Knowledge of additional programming languages (C#, Python, etc.) - preferred
  • Experience processing various types of flat files: CSV, XML, and JSON - preferred
  • Experience using BIML (Business Intelligence Markup Language) - preferred
  • Experience working with Web Services and APIs - preferred
  • Excellent analytical problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Innate desire to learn new skills and technologies
  • High degree of attention to detail and personal accountability
