The Workday and People Systems Data Manager will be responsible for assisting and supporting the Human Resources, Data, Finance, and Technology Departments in a variety of manners. The Workday and People Systems Data Manager's main responsibilities will focus on maintaining and improving Workday, KIPP DC's Human Capital Management (HCM) system. Additionally, the Workday and People Systems Data Manager will be charged with maintaining, auditing, and analyzing KIPP DC's people data to inform organization decisions related to talent. The Workday and People Systems Data Manager will work closely with our school leaders and headquarters stand and will report to the Senior Director of Talent Management.


  • Data, Systems, and Analytics 
  • Maintain Workday, KIPP DC's HCM system for employee compensation, time & attendance, benefits, and expense data
  • Improve and streamline business processes in Workday
  • Lead Workday Steering Committee and serve as project manager to launch time and attendance, expense, and performance review modules in Workday
  • Manage cases and relationship with Workday and OSV, our Workday consultant
  • Problem-solve downstream data Workday issues (Workday is system of record)
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, finance, data, and technology teams to ensure proper configuration and setup of Workday (with support from OSV)
  • Create and manage talent dashboards to drive operational excellence and equity
  • Review engagement, evaluation, retention, and exit data to determine trends and make recommendations around talent strategy
  • Administer surveys and performance reviews
  • Maintain and monitor Workday integration files
  • Conduct internal Workday trainings and serve as Workday training administration
  • Reporting and Compliance
  • Conduct regular scheduled audits of Workday data to ensure accuracy
  • Create and maintain Workday reports for the HR team and other departments as requested
  • Complete external data requests (e.g. OSSE Staffing collaborative, KIPP Foundation, Public Charter School Board, Bureau of Labor Statistics
  • General Support
  • Assist with compliance and audits
  • Perform customer service functions by answering questions about Workday and our people data and systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Serve as a full-time and engaged member of KIPP DC's staff


  • Bachelor's Degree (required) 
  • Experience with Workday (required) 
  • Experience or a demonstrated interest in talent (required) 
  • Proven analytic, strategic, and problem-solving skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including strong proficiency in Excel, required 
  • Outstanding organizational skills and an extraordinary attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines 
  • Proactive to identify problems and come up with solutions 
  • Strong project management skill, including managing projects with many components 
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability of work product 
  • Results-oriented team player who is dedicated to getting the job done 
  • Flexibility, with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate a high level of responsibility and multiple priorities 
  • Strong judgement and decision-making skills
  • Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence, initiative, and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of data reporting and washboarding tools a plus (i.e. Tableau, VBA)
  • Experience with creating and maintaining business processes in Workday a plus
  • Experience with scripting or macros a plus
  • Experience in non-profit or education field a plus
