Learning and Development Assistant Featured
Reporting to the Learning and Development Director, the Learning and Development Assistant is responsible for supporting the L&D team in the execution of department related projects as well as L&D related logistics & operations. Split between office-based and the field, percentage fluctuating based on time of year, the Learning and Development (L&D) Assistant’s responsibilities will entail 10-15 hours of work per week with higher hours typically required between the months of May and September. Field-based responsibilities include, but are not limited to, setting up welcoming and effective training and presentation environments, supporting presenters and trainers with logistical/operational needs, and delivering/picking-up programming materials or equipment. Office-based duties include, but are not limited to, L&D related inventory/organization, research, and resource creation. Focus of responsibilities shift based on time of year. In short, in partnership with other members of the site, the Learning and Development Assistant works to ensure that the L&D Department is able to provide impactful, efficient, and effective learning experiences for City Year San José Staff, AmeriCorps Members, and students that we serve. Responsibilities Learning & Development Logistics and Operations: Support the execution of AmeriCorps Member learning, training, and development. Prioritization of duties will vary based on time of year. Organize and maintain L&D training material and equipment. Support the identification potential venues in SJ or Bay Area for City Year trainings/events that may lead to long-term partnerships. Support day of logistics and operations for L&D lead or supported events, trainings, etc. Set up physical learning environments: equipment, material, tables/chairs, and/or catering Provide high-quality, relevant, and organized content and tools for AmeriCorps Member and Staff learning. Support the Impact Operations Manager in the execution of daily operations and logistics needs. Support the Impact Operations Manager in spring cleaning and after school materials/supplies return and inventorying. Drive City Year San José/Silicon Valley van to support materials delivery to school sites Other logistics and operations duties as assigned. Learning & Development Projects: Assist L&D team in the execution of department related projects. Prioritization of tasks/projects will vary based on time of year. Support the publication of a monthly L&D Newsletter. Support Impact Operations Managers during high logistics and operations volume times of year. Support in research projects such as sourcing relevant sources, annotating research sources, and organization of digital sources for further learning by Staff and Corps. Support resource development projects such as manual and toolkit creations, video tutorials, and one pagers. Other projects/tasks as assigned. Qualifications Valid driver’s license required Administrative experience preferred Strong attention to detail and proven organizational/project management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel desired Conveys thoughts and ideas clearly, actively listens and incorporates feedback, and communicates in a solution-oriented manner. Able to link organizational mission to individual work, and supports development and implementation of departmental or program strategy. Holds self-accountable, setting high expectations for self.
