The Opportunity: In its current form, school will never reach our highest aspirations -- even with herculean efforts. It was never designed for anything close to this. But the system as we know it can be redesigned. Transcend partners with ambitious schools and other learning communities to redesign schools so that all kids can thrive. The Strategic Partnerships Manager will play a key role in supporting Transcend’s efforts to find, appraise, and secure these new partnerships. Who you are: You are a project management whiz, with top-notch organizational and communication skills and follow-through. You know how to get people to do what needs to get done and you do it with flare. (Your friends look to you to organize the potluck, and you secretly have fun whipping up the spreadsheet -- and calendaring the reminders -- to make sure the meal is well rounded and no one forgets forks!) You love researching and learning about schools and other key players in the pK-12 education space, and delight in the prospect of successfully matching up organizations to do great work on behalf of kids. In addition, you are effective at translating ideas into compelling proposals or conversations, synthesizing information from all corners into a cogent way forward, and thrive in the magic of being a part of a fast-paced, caring, and hard-working team. Your Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Conduct background research, as needed, on potential school and org partners Support the design and codification of our diligence processes Create and lead others through an ongoing tracking system to manage all potential leads Project manage all timelines and deadlines - so everyone gets timely responses and follow-ups, no balls get dropped, etc. Coordinate, develop agendas, create and send out pre-work for all internal meetings related to partnerships, as well as select meetings with potential school and organization partners. For both internal meetings and meetings with potential school and organization partners, capture notes and next steps and follow up with participants to ensure all next steps are clear, timely, and executed with excellence Support the development of select partnership proposals by creating first drafts (including scopes, budgets, project overviews), soliciting and synthesizing feedback, and finalizing materials In collaboration with the Communications Team, develop and refine collateral that will support our efforts to cultivate school and organizational partnerships In collaboration with Data Team, develop, operate and manage technical tracking tools (such as Salesforce, google sheets, etc.), and also support team members to directly do tracking where needed Engage directly with schools and other external organizations, wherever appropriate, to conduct parts of the sourcing, diligence, and business development work Communicate with others across Transcend to coordinate processes, keep people in the loop, and ensure that others have positive experiences with our school and organizational partnerships work Where needed and feasible, provide project management support to other projects in the network practice area Participate fully in Transcend’s culture and uphold and live into Transcend’s core values Your Skills, Interests, and Practices: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: Deeply committed to Transcend’s mission of transforming education, and in particular, advancing diversity, equity, inclusion and quality learning experiences for all kids Motivated and excited by working with schools - districts, charters, and independent - to identify their challenges and seek solutions to them. Strong Research, Detection, and Synthesis Skills: able to scan the landscape, quickly synthesize research, interviews, and other data to identify and elevate potential partners. Ability to present information in a distilled and easily accessible way. Over time, develop pattern recognition to pursue some opportunities with gusto and hold tight on others. Able to connect disparate ideas and find the opportunity. Strong Project Management Skills: able to gather and organize multiple leads and opportunities, serving as the brain trust of the business development team. Ability to manage up and galvanize team to take action. Ability to work seamlessly across teams (Communication, Development, Data, and more) to develop and create marketing and tracking tools. Proactive Self-Starter : who has a track record of effectively and independently managing time and workflow across competing priorities to achieve results, and navigating through ambiguity. Proactively communicates and coordinates with others to advance the work. Detail-oriented, and Effective Systems Builder. Can build easy to use systems from scratch to manage all details and support effective decision making. Proficient with data, spreadsheets, and basic analytics. Highly proficient with Salesforce and Excel in particular. Strong Writing & Editing Skills: Able to listen to the needs of a potential partner, identify ways in which Transcend might be helpful, and draft proposals that meet their needs. Strong Empathy & Communication Skills: able to deeply hear needs of partners and internal school design team members and communicate with them in ways that feel authentic and empathetic. Willing and able to dive in, from executing the smallest details (e.g.,managing the business development function in salesforce, following up with teams on “to do’s..”) to representing the organization at conferences.
