Alonzo King LINES Dance Center offers nearly 80 open classes per week, as well as workshops and masterclasses that provide access to elite choreographers, companies, and artists. From the absolute beginner to the professional dancer, LINES Dance Center offers everything from ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, global dance and more in an environment that is inspiring and approachable. Connecting Alonzo's philosophy and vision, there is something for everyone - encouraging artistry, dance education, and discovery through various dance forms. LINES Community Programs continues to expand and develop ways in which Alonzo's work, philosophy and approach are integrated into the lives of students, youth and families. Residency program HeART with LINES provides Bay Area students with free in-school and after-school dance education by professional teaching artists, encouraging participants to develop their own ideas through the choreographic process. Other key programs include Corporate Partnerships, Professional Learning for Educators, Group Visits, and Field Trips. During the summer of 2017, LINES Ballet piloted engaging San Francisco's youngest artists (ages 3-9) and families. Position Summary Alonzo King LINES Ballet seeks an experienced leader, arts manager and dance education professional with proven ability to enhance existing revenue streams and identify and develop new revenue opportunities to drive the growth of all Alonzo King LINES Ballet Education Programs and initiatives as the Managing Director of Education. This role will oversee all LINES five key educational programs/initiatives (BFA, Training Program, Summer Program, Dance Center and Community Programs) includingstrategic planning and revenue growth staffing, administration and execution. It is a key role and is integral to creating organizational and programmatic connections, clarity in administrative systems and processes across all programs, cultivating succinct external communication, support programmatic representation to the board of directors, provide donor and development support, and increase the local and national presence while also driving earned and contributed revenue goals. Key Responsibilities Revenue Growth Create, execute, and analyze strategic growth plans for the LINES Ballet Dance Center, Community Programs, Training Program, Summer Program, and BFA Program at Dominican University with consistency for overall Education Department goals. Design and implement business plans to expands LINES Ballet Education programs' customer bases and maintain strong presence in the dance education community Identify emerging markets, market shifts, and proactively prepare LINES for long-term success as a leading institution for dance education Assist the Executive Director and Finance Director annually in establishing earned income goals Create strategies and leverage limited resources to reach earned income goals as set in the annual budgets Program Management ● Oversee and work closely with Education Leadership Team (key program directors and managers) to align all programmatic goals and work to drive the organizational mission and connect to philosophy and approach of Alonzo King ● Bolster and create organizational connectedness between education programs and initiatives ● In partnership with programmatic team, set programmatic goals and objectives, developing and implementing plans for achievement, including short and long range strategic planning for departmental growth and organizational development ● Vision cast for new initiatives that drive mission, sustainability, impact and revenue ● Develop rich additional audience engagement opportunities through all programs ● Report and work with Executive Director to create streamlined process, workflow, messaging, board communication and external perception of Education programs ● Partner with program directors to address programmatic challenges and find creative solutions for long-term sustainability ● Form a strategy for increasing national presence as a leader in Dance Education on various fronts ● Imagine and develop new opportunities for LINES through various fronts promoting the core tenants of all education programs Administrative Management ● Facilitate, lead and support inter-programmatic as well as intra-organizational communication ● Communicate and collaborate across departments on organizational initiatives ● Connect all processes and major administrative operations and systems between Education Programs ● Work with Marketing Department to review and assess all programmatic marketing and communication efforts and begin to plan for efficiencies and connectedness ● Assure that all imagery is aesthetically connected to the organization ● Review, assess, refine and support all systems, tools and processes connected to and in support of student recruitment, registration and communication ● With the Development Director, create board communication plan and meet with appropriate committee ● Empower and support program directors in their leadership roles and programmatic development ● Create long-term staffing plans and structure to support sustainability and manage systems of change ● Foster creative, ambitious and supported work environment for the entirety of the education team Financial Management ● With program leaders, develop and maintain all programmatic budgets ● Work closely with the Finance Director to revise and refine financial tracking and reconciliation systems as well as annual budget review and development ● Refine, design and maintain metrics and analysis/projections for all proposed budgets ● Strategizing and planning with Development to have more support/presence in funding efforts - grants, foundations, corporate and individual donors ● Support/bolster financial efficiencies for reporting and tracking ● Refine and facilitate major operations like payroll and time tracking for all programs/initiatives ● Assist program directors in budgeting and financial tracking process and planning ● Interface with Development Department as necessary in support of contributed revenue fronts ● Other duties as assigned Qualifications ● Passion for LINES Ballet mission is essential ● Experience successfully growing revenue for multiple programs ● 7-10 plus years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization, including demonstrated success in facility and/or program management ● Experience of managing a team of individuals and artists, including direct people management experience ● Excellent communication skills, both written and oral ● Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail ● Flexible and adaptable style; a manager who can positively impact both strategic and tactical program development and systems ● Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also as a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside LINES Ballet ● Experience with MindBody© Online or Active.com or other comparable database/registration systems ● Experience in Constant Contact, InDesign and Social Media platforms a plus ● Master's degree preferred in relevant area (Education, Arts Management, Business Administration, etc.) Customary Schedule ● Work Hours: 40+ hours per week ● Monday - Friday; evenings and weekends as required Status: Full-time, exempt Reports to: Executive Director Compensation: The salary for the position is competitive depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
