The role will drive partnerships with existing CMOs, facilitate the expansion, launch, and/or improvement of small charter networks and single site schools, and provide supports and expertise to new (first-year) schools and leaders. This role will build partnerships with National, state, and local leaders and community partners seeking to start new charter schools and liaise with the Texas Education Agency. Finally, this role will lead conversations with school districts to accelerate the creation of charter district/partnerships and increase access to high quality charters that are responsive to parent demand in new communities.  This position reports to the Chief Program Officer and will play a vital role in ensuring that Good Reason Houston realizes its vision that every child, in every neighborhood, excels in a world-class public school and thrives in the Houston of tomorrow.  RESPONSIBILITIES This role will evolve to meet the needs of the Good Reason Strategy and as the education landscape in the state and region shifts. Current responsibilities include:   Strategy Setting and Leadership of the Good Reason Houston charter school seats plan:  Execute against the current Good Reason Houston charter school seats plan, and develop, maintain, and create new strategies to ensure the its success. Build and maintain strategic relationships with CMO, small network and single-site leadership across the city. Build and maintain a strong relationship with the TEA Charter Schools Division, forging a relationship that benefits Houston and encourages high-quality charter school growth.  Provide technical assistance to all partners, and recruit a suite of technical assistance support partners, per our charter school strategy. Define additional opportunities along the development pipeline to support growth of a high-quality sector, including the use and execution of our quality school deserts. Determine and coordinate outreach and parent engagement as necessary, and in partnership with charter advocates, to support policies and practices that benefit the health and growth the sector.  Engaging large CMOs and supporting their growth plans:  Build and maintain strategic relationships with CMO leadership. Support the launch of new mature network campuses. Support the creation and strengthening of bench depth for assistant principals and principals and the development and recruitment of teachers into Houston, ensuring CMO growth strategies are executed. Support the development of parent engagement capacity and advocacy trainings, through professional learning communities.  Actively and strategically support new schools and small charter networks to ensure their growth plans are met, and that they have access to the technical assistance they need to be successful, including: Curate a suite of resources, delivered by proven experts that can provide facilities, growth planning, and admin systems/scaling support while leaders focus on growth. Build a professional learning community focused on the development of community and family engagement at the school and network level. Provide small networks with the central office development support the need to be successful in their growth. Utilize the Good Reason Houston school desert analysis to understand growth opportunities, and support networks in their decision making.  Invest in community engagement and entry strategies for supported operators, ensuring their success in years zero and one. POSITION OVERVIEW City Year is seeking an innovative, entrepreneurial, and people-focused leader to serve as the Executive Director (ED) at City Year Dallas. This position is an outstanding opportunity to play an integral role in advocating for and advancing public education in Dallas. This seasoned executive is responsible for ensuring the Dallas site meets its impact, revenue, district partnership, and external relations goals. Manage implementation of school partnership agreement and conditions for success. Site Support Partner with City Year Dallas departments and staff through applicant interview process, stakeholder engagement, service day and event participation, and cross-departmental committees as needed to ensure site-wide goals are met. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. Experience working in a school, educational, or youth-support setting required with at least one year in a role managing or leading others. Experience working in areas related to English Language Arts, math, behavior management, overall school climate, after school programming, extended learning time or social work preferred. Demonstrated ability to communicate and present ideas with clarity, credibility, humility and tact; lead with “the why” and incorporate vision into messaging; tailor messaging to audience and maintain professionalism in speaking and writing. Director of Development- San Antonio
Role Mission: The Regional Director of Development is charged with cultivating, navigating, and maintaining the external relationships for the fundraising needs to support college matriculation and regional programming. The Director of Development - San Antonio is responsible for meeting ambitious fundraising targets. These goals are met through: a) solicitation of major gifts from foundations, individuals and corporations in the San Antonio region; and b) targeted donor acquisition and stewardship through a diverse portfolio of events, meetings and school tours. In addition, the Regional Director of Development will also cultivate and sustain regional board relationships in partnership with San Antonio's Regional Superintendent. This role will be supported by a development operations team charged with ensuring the appropriate infrastructure is in place to execute best-in-class fundraising operations across IDEA's regions. Through the development operations team, the Director of Development will have events, data analysis, communications, gift processing and grant reporting support. The Director of Development will report to the Vice President of Regional Development and sit on a team of fellow regional fundraisers who share best practices, collaborate and have fun together. A masterful communicator, relationship builder and fundraiser, the Director of Development is passionate about educational equity in San Antonio, well-versed in making six and seven figure asks, and is a strategic planner and executer. Accountabilities: 1. Raise $1.3M in funding to support the San Antonio region by June 30, 2020. Lead stewardship with IDEA's largest funders in the San Antonio region Develop funding path for renewals and prospects; and build relationships with local individuals, corporations and foundations to support IDEA with major gifts. With the support of IDEA's Development Events Manager, plan and execute the San Antonio Opportunity Lunch 2019 with an end goal of raising at minimum $100,000 net at the event. Plan and lead regional tours, working with the development operations team and the regional schools' teams to prepare for funder and prospect visits. 2. Ensure 100% of board members give financially; and 100% of board members experience at least one programmatic touchpoint. Create individualized annual plans for each board member Manage all San Antonio regional board correspondence, meeting schedules, agendas and presentations, working with San Antonio Regional Superintendent to plan a minimum of 3 regional board meetings a year with 90% attendance Partner with Regional Superintendent to develop and execute recruitment strategy to recruit and onboard additional, qualified advisory board members 3. Build a sustainable coalition of San Antonio donors with a strong belief in IDEA's mission and willingness advocate on behalf of IDEA. Champion board and community partnerships for the region and provide appropriate level of detail, preparation, and context for Regional Superintendent to support cultivation and continued engagement. Set strategic goals around the number of new, lapsed and upgraded donors needed in FY20 and beyond to create a healthy, sustainable donor base long-term Develop and execute long-term plan to get in front of 25% of long-range high net worth San Antonio leaders to begin building relationships for future asks 4.
