mmary The Center Director is responsible for running day to day operations, coaching and mentoring staff, assisting parents and children through their experience at the center, and ensuring that Little Minds Learning Center offers the premier child development experience that is educational and affordable. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Center/Daily Operations: Supervise all daily operations including; teachers, classrooms, scheduling, and breaks; Supervise development and implementation of curriculum in each classroom; Conduct daily center walks at the beginning of each day to greet parents, children, and employees, check in and answer any employee questions/concerns, check facility for cleanliness and any maintenance needs there may be; Conduct bi-weekly formal observations with a coaching plan for each classroom and teacher; Problem solve and address all issues as they arise within the center; Develop and maintain a relationship with licensing and always be 100% compliant with all licensing rules; Ensure the handbook, state, and federal laws are maintained through audits and observation of the center and classrooms; Conduct audits every 2nd and 4th week of the month on all paperwork for employees; Set up and maintain a list of approved maintenance, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing companies to assist the center needs when appropriate; Order supplies and coordinate with the Operations Director on all purchases that are not already approved following the budgeting guidelines; Send all receipts to the accounting mailing address weekly and scan all receipts and email to the accounting email address daily. Post for open positions within the center; Actively recruit teachers while promoting the LMLC mission and vision producing a minimum of 1 application per month; Interview applicants, manage employee selection and job offers, and fill open positions within 2 weeks of the position being vacated; Conduct New Employee Orientation and Training; Set up new employee email addresses as well as access to ProCare, the LMLC website, the Registry, and any other systems they need access to; Manage pay increases/decreases and promotions/demotions in partnership with the Operations Director while following budget guidelines; Partner with the Operations Director regarding performance management; including mentoring, documentation, discipline, reward, and retention; Establish and conduct Lead Teacher career development opportunities while partnering with the Operations Director; Track and manage continuing education requirements for all teachers; Perform and manage investigations while partnering with the Operations Director; Manage social networking using websites, marketing principals, and other means of technology; Network and setup meetings with Early Childhood Associations in the area at least one per month during the school year; Submit employee payroll hours no later than the day after the pay period. Conduct center tours for inquiring families with the expectation that they will result in enrollments or additions to the waiting list and have teachers trained in conducting tours so they can act as a backup; Manage the waiting list and keep communication to all families on the waiting list through email and by phone; Manage enrollment openings; understand enrollment projections and class size guidelines; Set up all new families for Orientation and get them set up in the LMLC Website; Manage the County Reimbursement Program for all families enrolled; Maintain open communication with all enrolled families addressing any concerns that come up and regarding new teachers that are starting and teachers that are leaving; Set up and supervise parent teacher conferences between teachers and the families; Coordinate with teachers and parents to conduct a quarterly community involvement project; Conduct audits every 2nd and 4th week of the month on all paperwork for enrolled children. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Illinois Department of Children and Family Services Rules 407 Section 407.130 Qualifications for Child Care Director The child care director shall be at least 21 years of age; The child care director shall have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED); Sixty semester or 90 quarter hours of credit from an accredited college or university with 18 semester or 27 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development from birth to age 6; OR Two years (3120 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center, 30 semester or 45 quarter hours of college credits with 10 semester or 15 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, and proof of enrollment in an accredited college or university until 2 years of college credit have been achieved. A total of 18 semester or 27 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development is required to be obtained within the total 2 years of college credits; OR Completion of a credentialing program approved in accordance with Appendix G of this Part, completion of 12 semester or 18 quarter hours in courses related to child care and/or child development from birth to age 6 at an accredited college or university, and 2 years (3120 clock hours) child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten or licensed day care center; Persons who were deemed qualified to serve as a child care director prior to January 1, 1985, continue to be deemed qualified for their position. Directors deemed qualified must still have current Mandated Reporter Training, SIDS, SUID, SBS and other training certificates as required in this Part; The child care director must successfully complete a basic training course of 6 or more clock hours on providing care to children with disabilities that has been approved by the Department. The day care center shall have on file a certificate attesting to the training of the child care director; Persons employed as a child care director shall complete this training within 36 months from date appointed as child care director; A child care director who has completed training prior to employment may have that training approved as meeting the provisions of this subsection (k). A certificate of training completion and a description of the course content must be submitted to the Department for approval; A child care director who obtains approved training and moves from one day care facility to another shall not be required to take another training course as long as the child care director can provide documentation in the form of a certificate that the training was completed; A training program approved by the Department in providing care for children with disabilities must include the following components: A) Introduction to Inclusive Child Care; B) Understanding Child Development in Relation to Disabilities; C) Building Relationships With Families; D) Preparing for and Including Young Children in the Child Care Setting; E) Community Services for Young Children With Disabilities (including Early Intervention Services). 12. By July 1, 2017, the following education requirements for licensed day care center staff shall be met: All new child care directors hired on or after July 1, 2017 shall have a minimum of an associate degree in child development or early childhood education, or the equivalent (defined as 64 semester hours in any discipline with a minimum of 21 semester hours of college credit in child development, early childhood education or early childhood special education) and either a Gateways to Opportunity Level I Illinois Director Credential (see 89 Ill. Adm. Code 50.720(b) and ) or 3 semester hours of college credit or 3 points of credential approved training in administration, leadership or management; Effective July 1, 2017, licensed child care centers must have an employee on site at all times with a minimum of an associate degree in child development or early childhood education or the equivalent (defined as 64 semester hours in any discipline with a minimum of 21 semester hours of college credit in child development, early childhood education or early childhood special education). DESIRED EXPERIENCE: Have at least two years' experience as a Lead Childcare Teacher OR two years' experience as a center director in a licensed child care center or other approved setting. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift 40 pounds regularly; Must be able to sit down on floor to play with children; Must be able to stand for long periods of time; Must be able to attend work as required.
