MISSION: The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will improve outcomes for all public-school students in the state by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Teacher Effectiveness Specialist will play a critical role in the planning and implementation House Bill 3’s Teacher Incentive Allotment, which aims to provide a pathway for outstanding Texas teachers to earn six-figure salaries. This role will build and maintain internal and external partnerships, manage an inter-agency contract, and support the project planning and implementation process for the Teacher Incentive Allotment. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and executing complex project plans and knowledge of teacher evaluation and compensation systems. This position reports to the Program Manager of Teacher Leadership & Strategic Compensation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Support the management of the Teacher Incentive Allotment, including the management of project design, execution, and evaluation. Contribute to the development of a process for evaluating locally developed teacher designation systems and utilize that process to evaluate the extent to which districts meet certain criteria. Contribute to the development of specific parts of the Teacher Incentive Allotment including rules, technical manuals, general guidance, and resources to be shared with districts and other interested parties. Manage external partnerships with organizations such as the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and Texas Tech University, and support stakeholders as they engage with the various aspects of the Teacher Incentive Allotment. Support the cross-agency work in teacher leadership, appraisal, compensation, support, and retention, and ensure alignment with other agency and ESC initiatives in these areas. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. Experience: At least (4) years of experience in education. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: A demonstrated track record of success improving student outcomes as a teacher or instructional leader Experience working with diverse stakeholders through small and large group facilitation Knowledge of effective teacher appraisal practices preferred Experience in long-term project planning, including establishing outcomes, determining evaluative measures, and tracking progress Ability to juggle competing priorities and drive team towards results Highly organized; ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines Ability to act with a purpose that impacts and positively influences the perceptions, thinking, and actions of others Strong leadership, management, interpersonal relations, public speaking and writing skills Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high quality work in a dynamic environment Collaborative and results-oriented, especially within a team environment A desire to self-reflect, give/receive feedback, and continuously improve As an equal opportunity employer, we hire without consideration to race, religion, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or veteran status, unless an applicant is entitled to the veteran’s preference.
