Senior Director of Development LEARN Charter School Network (LEARN) seeks an exceptional, high performing development professional. Background Founded in 2001, LEARN Charter School Network is a network of college prep public elementary schools that is creating measurable, transformational change in the lives of students from underinvested neighborhoods. The mission of LEARN is to provide our scholars with the academic foundation and ambition to earn a college degree. We are fulfilling that mission every day by outperforming district schools in every key metric including more than double the number of college graduates compared with district, state and national averages. We educate 4,000 PK-8th grade students across 10 campuses in Chicago and Lake County, IL. We serve a majority low-income, minority student population (86% and 98%, respectively), most of whom will be the first in their families to attend college. We measure the true impact of our program by the number of alumni that ultimately graduate from college. LEARN Alumni graduate college at twice the rate of Black students in Chicago Public Schools (a direct demographic comparison) and 10 points higher than all students across the nation. LEARN has effectively closed the opportunity gap. LEARN is at an inflection point as we approach our 20th anniversary serving Chicago's most vulnerable families. We have embarked on an ambitious strategic planning process to identify and execute the programs necessary to achieving a groundbreaking 50% college graduation rate for LEARN scholars by 2030. Job Description The Senior Director of Development will lead LEARN's multi-million dollar annual fundraising efforts in collaboration with a talented development staff, highly committed leadership team and LEARN's Board of Directors. The Senior Director of Development reports to the Chief of Advancement and External Affairs, and serves as key liaison to the board, development committee and external constituencies, including individuals, community groups, corporations and foundations invested in LEARN's success. Responsibilities Lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive, diversified fundraising plan, including major individual giving, corporate, family and national foundation giving, government grants and special events. Develop and implement a donor relationship process including cultivation, recognition, and stewardship. Work with the Board of Directors to maximize giving potential of individual members and develop targeted strategies to leverage their relationships with other potential new donors to LEARN. Supervise the staff and consultants working for the development department. Provide guidance, leadership and direction by establishing priorities and performance expectations and providing professional development. Create and maintain the development infrastructure, including fundraising software, donor information, grant reporting, gift acknowledgement, and budget management. Qualifications The ideal candidate should enjoy working in a dynamic, results-oriented environment in which expectations are high for both the quality and speed of work.
