POSITION SUMMARY: McREL is currently seeking a Business Development Manager based out of Colorado, Georgia, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Tennessee, or Texas, located within one hour of a major airport. This individual will initiate and execute the sales strategy to ensure that organizational goals and revenue targets are achieved. This includes proposal development, outreach campaigns to potential clients, and working with a client base to reach revenue targets. This individual will work directly with the Senior Director of Sales and Client Partnerships and the leadership team to carry out specific strategies and tactics to drive revenue.This position requires occasional travel within the continental United States. ROLE EXPECTATIONS: Implements strategic sales plans to achieve corporate goals.Performs lead generation activities, such as email outreach campaigns and market research.Manages a client base according to territory.Performs and maintains outreach to existing clients and prospective clients via email, phone, and conferences and matches services to the clients' needs.Implements and tracks success of outreach campaigns.Creates and manages a sales pipeline aligned to goals.Manages sales cycle with client base.Delivers sales presentations to key clients.Writes proposals.Attends relevant sales and education conferences.Helps with reporting. SKILLS: Outstanding communication and presentation skills.General knowledge and understanding of significant issues in education.Understanding of the needs of various education audiences (teachers, school leadership, etc.).Demonstrated skill in presenting information effectively to varied audiences.Demonstrated track record of successful sales.Knowledge and working understanding of the latest sales development tools, techniques, and methodologies.Ability to drive planning, including managing sales and travel budgets.Demonstrated skill in setting profitability targets.Proficiency in tracking and reporting sales activity using CRM software.Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.Ability to work effectively in a team environment. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree5+ years of experience in a dedicated sales role5+ years of direct client contact PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 5+ years of experience in sales of professional services5+ years of experience in the field of educationExperience with competitive grants and RFP responses TRAVEL: Must be willing and able to perform all national travel (including overnight and commercial airline travel) that is necessary to accomplish the essential functions of this position.
