Teams of City Year Chicago’s AmeriCorps Members partner with schools and community-based organizations to transform the climate and culture of schools, helping students reach their academic potential through math and literacy intervention curricula and innovative in-school, after-school, and out-of-school programs. City Year Chicago’s work is anchored in Chicago’s south and west side communities and is based on our strategy of deploying multiple teams in each neighborhood to have a concentrated impact in each community. The Impact Director will focus on establishing, developing and implementing the site’s service partnerships and strategy and ensuring overall service excellence within a defined set of schools. In essence, the Impact Director is responsible City Year achieving all of its results with a given set of schools. This includes all key metrics for our students, our corps members, our school based partners, and other sited wide functions such as finance and administrative compliance. Job Description Responsibilities • Oversee a division of approximately 60-80 diverse, 17 to 24 year-olds who will serve with City Year over a ten month period. • Hire, develop, and coach three to five Impact Managers to successfully lead City Year corps members. These three to five Impact Managers oversee six to ten school based teams of corps members (@8-10 young adults per school). Ensure that all service activities are conducted on every team by using Impact Manager playbooks. • Responsible for all corps member results (e.g. retention, satisfaction, engagement) and management oversight. Oversee evaluation initiatives such as corps surveys, corps performance management process. • Responsible for all school based and student level service results including student academic performance, attendance and behavior goals for every school in Director’s portfolio. • Directly manage all school partner relationships within their school portfolio including implementing new school partnerships and renewing agreements with schools every year. Serving as the ‘executive contact’ for the school’s leadership team on an ongoing basis with formal and informal touchpoints. Ensure every school is meeting City Year’s Conditions for Success rubric. • Manage team budget and manage office (where applicable). • Directly oversee the Learning and Development strategy for corps members and Impact staff. Oversee the execution of Basic/Advance Training and other learning initiatives. • Liaise with appropriate City Year Chicago team members to ensure the implementation of organizational priorities in the communities we serve, including: corps member recruitment, communications, compliance with AmeriCorps grant, fundraising, evaluation, and training. • Oversee coordination of all City Year activities and calendar within community including civic events, service days, community meetings, trainings, etc. • Be accountable to, and responsible for, City Year’s mission, values, code of conduct, standards and organizational messages to the public, staff, and corps members. • Work with the Service Director, other Impact Directors and the Deputy Director to develop overall curriculum and service strategy for the site.
