Senior Director, District Engagement Featured
The Senior Director, District Engagement will join the national District Engagement Center of Expertise at City Year’s Headquarters to help us achieve our long-term impact goals. Reporting to the Vice President, District Engagement, the Senior Director will directly support City Year sites on their District Engagement strategy to develop sustainable public partnerships that deliver consistent student and school-wide outcomes and promote collaborative learning and continuous improvement. The Senior Director will also lead cross-departmental collaboration around City Year’s national Teacher Pathways strategy and support City Year sites in the local Teacher Pathways implementations and partnerships. The location for this position is flexible. Job Description WHAT YOU WILL DO Translate strategy into effective partnerships across a variety of stakeholders . You will utilize strategic thinking and planning to understand the complex challenges City Year sites and district partners face and make recommendations to the organization of the most optimal course of action to achieve key outcomes for City Year partnerships, including commitment to deploy and support City Year teams in high-need schools, fund City Year’s implementation and share and learn from data. Possess a breadth and depth of knowledge about the current state and future possibilities of school district partnerships. You will understand the current state and future potential of City Year sites’ district partnerships in order to provide strategic support to City Year site staff. As part of this, you will identify and codify best practices related to school, district and other public partnerships and share them across the City Year network. Coach and collaborate with staff at a number of levels. You will provide proactive engagement, strategy consultation and technical assistance to support sites in strengthening their district and other public partnerships. This includes building strong internal relationships across other departments and with executive and senior level site staff through superior customer service, anticipation of needs and opportunities before they’re named, and timely and effective responses to requests for support. Motivate and influence others to act. You will use your strong negotiation skills to influence site, headquarters, and district leadership to pursue recommended courses of action. You will demonstrate your adeptness at clearly communicating complex information in a compelling way in both written and verbal formats and will develop and update externally facing materials to effectively articulate City Year’s value to individual schools, communities, and school districts. Contribute as a member of a high functioning team. You will join the District Engagement Center of Expertise and work collaboratively with a team of people who share knowledge, expertise and a commitment to achieving great things for City Year and the communities we serve. You will have opportunities to share your learning, and recommended strategy for improving City Year’s partnerships with schools and school districts and in-kind will learn from a diverse team of staff with unique experiences and perspectives. Specifically, you have: Experience building relationships and partnerships in education (school, district, and/or nonprofit) Demonstrated ability to understand complex challenges, analyze potential paths forward and make recommendations on the best course of action A passion for continuous improvement and experience soliciting feedback and making adjustments accordingly Proven ability to prioritize, take initiative and lead multiple projects in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment Exceptional follow-through and attention to detail Flexibility to thrive working both independently and collaboratively Compensation and Benefits Full time employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with experience.
