As the Recruitment Manager, you will be a part of a team leading the growth for NYU’s Teacher Residency (NYU TR), an innovative teacher preparation pathway. NYU’s Teacher Residency was created by the faculty in Teaching & Learning in 2016 and currently partners with school districts and charter organizations in NY, CA, FL, D.C., and CT to prepare the next generation of teachers for our partnering communities. The ideal candidate has knowledge of different teacher preparation models, believes in the value of a district or charter organization’s ability to retain teaching talent, and has experience working to support to find great teachers. This is a full-time position that requires travel and reports to the National Director of Recruitment and University Partnerships. This individual will work as a part of an expanding recruitment team to identify prospective candidates, communicate programmatic values during in-person and virtual events, and manage on-campus recruitment at strategic universities nationally. Strong analytical thinking, a solutions-oriented mindset, an entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to creating equitable K - 12 schools is required.

HotChalk works in partnership with NYU Steinhardt to offer two innovation models in the education sector: the NYU Teacher Residency which prepares teachers, and the EdD in Leadership & Innovation for leaders across multiple sectors. HotChalk is responsible for establishing relationships with districts and charter partners, marketing, recruitment, enrollment services, online learning platforms and supports, student support services, and data analytics. NYU Steinhardt holds all academic decisions including student admissions decisions, curriculum, faculty hiring, and collaborates closely on district and charter partnerships. Together, students in the Teacher Residency and EdD participate in unique programs that take the best from a world-class A-1 research university and combines it with the flexibility and know-how of a nimble education technology company.
The Partnerships Manager will be successful in the first year if they reach these milestones:
At 3 months: Has internalized the value proposition of the NYU Teacher Residency and is able to speak fluently about the program to prospective candidates
Has developed a firm understanding of the channels through which residents are recruited and has assumed some responsibility for driving the strategy to recruit from each
Has co-hosted, alongside the National Director of Recruitment both virtual and in-person information sessions
Understands the basic framework for the district/partner relationships and the selection process for Teacher Residency candidates
Is leading the follow-up communication strategy to prospective students who have attended on-campus recruitment events
Understands the student experience from inquiry to enrollment and can communicate clearly where there might be opportunities for improvement
At 6 months: Has led virtual and in-person information sessions and events independently
Has assumed direct management of the Campus Campaign Coordinator team including leading individual check-ins and team meetings
Has built strong relationships with regional and national organizations where prospective Teacher Residency candidates are (e.g. City Year, Breakthrough Collaborative, Fuse Corps, etc.)
Has supported the National Director of Recruitment in the onboarding of new district and charter partners into the resident selection and hiring process
Has led the cultivation and outreach strategies for college seniors on university campuses nationally
At 12 months: Has expanded the Campus Campaign Coordinator team to more campuses and is driving the success of the overall on-campus recruitment efforts
Has developed a strategy to engage current residents and program alumni in the recruitment and selection process
Is using data to analyze and evolve existing recruitment strategies to drive stronger performance
Is meeting enrollment targets for the Teacher Residency program through strong pipeline building and engagement
Essential Competencies, Duties and Responsibilities:

Drive, alongside the National Director of Recruitment and University Partnerships, the recruitment strategies for growth for the NYU TR program that ensures NYU TR meets yearly enrollment targets.
Develop and refine top of funnel outreach and follow-up strategies for prospective candidates who have expressed interest in the NYU TR program through job board postings and on-campus recruitment activities.
Collaborate closely with Campus Campaign Coordinators to develop a strong NYU TR brand on university and college campuses.
Manage the data tracking from recruitment activities to drive the strategic decision-making process.
Coordinate with NYU Teacher Residency district and charter partners on dates, times, and locations for in-person information sessions.
Lead outreach via multiple communication channels to ensure events (in-person, virtual, on-campus) are well attended
Follow-up with district points of contact to ensure that promotion is taking place via internal channels about information sessions and other events.
Host information sessions (virtual and in-person) individually as well as alongside NYU Steinhardt faculty, HotChalk enrollment team members, district/charter stakeholders.
Manage the communication strategy for college students that have expressed interest in the Teacher Residency
Manages the entire business development processes from outreach, cultivation, closing involved in full lifecycle partnership development
Engage NYU TR alumni and current students in the recruitment and selection process
Coordinate with National Director of Recruiting & Partnerships to onboard new district and charter partners into the selection and hiring process
Partner with district/charter personnel on onboarding new NYU TR Residents
Education/Teacher Preparation Landscape
Understand the evolving landscape in national education trends, with a particular focus on recruitment, retention and teacher preparation strategies
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):
A Bachelor’s Degree Required.
K-12 teaching experience preferred.
1-3 years of experience recruiting for teacher preparation programs or schools required. Candidates without recruiting experience who have worked as classroom teachers are also encouraged to apply.
Knowledgeable in campus recruiting including, but not limited to, networking, sourcing, hosting events, and cultivating candidates is preferred.
Must be able to manage competing demands, accept constructive feedback, while being extremely adaptable and flexible.
Knowledge and experience working in Salesforce.
Excellent project management, writing, and oral communication skills are required.
Entrepreneurial approach to work with the ability to work independently
Strong initiative and solid judgment abilities/skills.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite and the use of email.
