MISSION: The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will improve outcomes for all public-school students in the state by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems. POSITION OVERVIEW: A rigorous academic accountability and performance reporting system is the cornerstone of the agency’s priorities to promote improved outcomes for all students and to ensure all students are prepared for success in college, career, or military. The Division of Performance Reporting is the front line for data that goes into every major project that the Texas Education Agency is responsible for. This is a senior level programmer position that will perform highly complex SAS and computer programming work in support of the state and federal accountability system. The Programmer III works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Applicants who are strongly being considered for employment must submit to a national criminal history background check. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Perform highly complex programming and data reporting for the EDFacts reports and the Federal Report Card. Process the Snapshot report. Participate in the state accountability processing. Perform quality checks for all products produced by the division. Generate Ad Hoc reports for data requests. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. Experience: At least three (3) years of experience in SAS programming or other similar programs including system analysis and design work. Four (4) or more years’ SAS programming experience including systems analysis/design work or a combination of computer programming and project management is preferred. Substitutions: An advanced degree may substitute for two years of required experience. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Strong analytical skills in handling large datasets and working with complex reports; Knowledge of Web technology (HTML, SAS/IntrNet, etc); Synthesizing and maintaining complete documentations; Meticulous attention to details with an ability to produce high quality work in a dynamic environment; Highly organized; ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines; A desire to self-reflect, give/receive feedback and continuously improve; Ability to engage in a collaborative and results-oriented team environment.
