The Facilities Accounting Technician is responsible for technical fiscal work in executing budgets and other advance accounting procedures for the Facilities Services Department. An employee in this class will assist with budget preparation, monitor planned budget execution versus actual expenditures, maintain financial record keeping, and operate software programs related to electronic processing and payment of accounts. Receives invoices and processes for payment. Monitors spend rates on blanket orders, prepares orders and completes receiving for maintenance and custodial supplies. Applies advanced accounting procedures requiring judgment to provide prompt resolution to technical issues as they arise. The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed in relation to the position. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate: • Reviews and processes purchase orders, encumbrances, account balances and vender invoices in an Oracle based enterprise financial management system. Maintains records of transactions • Reviews and processes for payment approximately 400 utility invoices per month • Assists in the annual budget preparation process including organizing, proofreading, and assembling the budget and staffing requests from the department • Assists in preparation of financial and statistical reports for Facilities Services • Performs related work as required • Associates Degree in Accounting or related field, and two years related experience • Ability to communicate orally and in writing • Proficient technical skills with an emphasis on knowledge of advance accounting procedures and use of spreadsheet, database, and word processing systems • Exceptional organizational skills • Knowledge of office procedures and practices Physical Requirements The following provides a brief description of physical requirements for this position: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking. expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
