CIVIC EDUCATION TASK FORCE MANAGER Job Description Indiana Bar Foundation The Indiana Bar Foundation ( ) is a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation dedicated to strengthening access to justice and appreciation for the rule of law in Indiana. To accomplish our mission, we gather and direct resources toward three main areas: assisting people who have difficulty accessing the justice system, providing civic education opportunities for all ages, and improving Indiana's Judicial System and the legal profession. Civic Education Task Force Manager Reporting to the Executive Director, the Civic Education Task Force Manager will help direct, coordinate, and manage the activity of the Civic Education Task Force. The Indiana Bar Foundation is forming this Task Force as a direct result of the recommendations from the 2019 Indiana Civic Health Index. The Task Force is charged with studying methods of instruction, programs, and educational outcomes to improve civic education opportunities for all ages and prepare specific policy recommendations to improve civic education in Indiana. This position is funded for 12 months and will culminate in a written report outlining specific actionable recommendations to help direct policy makers and others to improve and advance civic education in Indiana. This is a full-time position with compensation of between $20-$25 per hour plus benefits. The Task Force Manager should excel in attention to detail, logistics, communication and event planning, and have solid research and writing skills, preferably with an interest in civics and government. Given the strictly non-partisan nature of this work, the Task Force Manager must be comfortable acting in a non-partisan capacity at all times. Previous experience in campaign logistics, advance team operations or media in a partisan political environment is acceptable. The Task Force Manager is required to forego active, visible, partisan political activities and speech in the public arena while serving in this role. This includes removal of partisan content from social media profiles. Key Responsibilities • Serve as the direct staff liaison and point of contact for the Civic Education Task Force and its members and working groups. • Coordinate and arrange for meeting logistics, consulting with outside content specialists and policy experts to participate in meetings. • Serve as the central hub to communicate with the task force and work group members. • Assist in research and writing about civic education programs, initiatives, and curriculum from across the country and serve as the hub for drafting the final Task Force report. • Help to organize and coordinate distribution of Task Force materials to further the work of the group. • Schedule and communicate with all parties involved with the Task Force and be comfortable with various technologies, on line platforms, and other relevant tools to work and communicate efficiently. Qualifications • Minimum of a bachelor's degree. • You will need to live in central Indiana and have reliable transportation. • Ability to work nights and weekends as job requires. • Some flexibility on work from home opportunities. • Ability to travel as required (nearly all of which would be within the state of Indiana).
