This person is responsible for managing Moonshot edVentures’ programming activities (the School Launcher Fellowship and Talk to Action). In this position, you will work directly with and report to the Moonshot edVentures’ Director of Leadership and Learning while working to support the Chief Executive Officer and her Chief of Staff. The ideal candidate will be a skilled community organizer, with an understanding of education reform and a knack for developing people as leaders in their communities and a comfort with running local and political campaigns. The Parent Organizer, Richmond will also work closely with the Bay Area Organizing Team to lead and execute local campaigns aligned with the organizational missions of both CCSA (501c3) and CCSA Advocates (501c4). The ideal candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills, hands-on experience developing leadership in others, and be well organized and flexible. A sense of humor, knowledge of the charter school policy and advocacy landscape, and a passion for educational justice make the candidate a good fit for the team and position. Strong project management and written/verbal communication skills are required. Essential Duties : Identify, train and develop parents and other community members as leaders in the principles and practices of community organizing in order to build powerful parent-driven teams connected to CCSA Families. Conduct at least 12 one-to-one visits and one house meeting with parents and community members every week, as well as build and manage multiple parent teams in Richmond. Build multiple parent teams that drive local issue work and develop charter school parents into a powerful voice in their schools, neighborhoods, cities, and statewide. Develop and lead trainings in collaboration with staff to grow parents in their advocacy, organizing, and leadership skills. Train and guide leaders and teams in relationship building, research, and policy development to building political power in Richmond. Prepare leaders to hold demand meetings, press events, public actions between parents and public officials, including state legislators and local school board members. Mobilize parents to lead or attend large public forums, rallies, and demand actions demonstrating the power of charter school parents and families. Execute electoral campaign operations, including coordinating and turning out volunteers for phone banking and canvassing in conjunction with CCSA Advocates. Work with Director, Parent Organizing, Northern California to develop, implement, and adjust unified campaign strategies (state, citywide, and local communities) Develop and implement campaign strategies and tactics, with parent voices driving decisions. Manage and maintain a timely and comprehensive database of current and potential parents who can be called on for political action and advocacy. Manage relationships with leaders from multiple sectors, such as principals, teachers, charter school leaders, elected officials and community leaders to support the agenda of CCSA Families. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of IT and as part of a fifteen-member team, the IT Support Specialist is primarily responsible for providing frontline/first responder technical support. The members of this team are responsible for resolving “level one” technical issues through in-person/hands-on as well as remote support for thousands of computing devices and hundreds of applications for 1300 employees, 12,000 students, and nineteen locations throughout Chicago (i.e., 17 high school campuses, one middle school campus, the Network Support Team, and Noble Daycare). Noble’s computing environment consists of ten Windows campuses and three Mac (OS X) campuses. Noble Daycare and the Network Support Team are also Windows-based. The ideal candidate has notable experience with Windows and some working knowledge of Mac OS X as well. Cross-platform experience (Mac and Windows) is highly desired but not mandatory. The IT Support Specialist must be able to reach (and often work from) any Noble location efficiently and without reservation. The campuses, Noble Support Team, and Noble Daycare are located throughout Chicago and can all be reached easily by car. As of the 2018-2019 school year, all KIPP schools in Texas join forces as KIPP Texas Public Schools, a state-wide network of schools dedicated to supporting students to and through college!   The Opportunity   The Manager of Federal and State Compliance is responsible for maximizing funding opportunities for KIPP Texas through Federal and State formula funds and other grants. He/she works with Accounting, FP&A, Special Education, PEIMS, Operations, IT, and the Superintendent to manage funds received and to help determine what expenditures can be paid by each funding stream. The Manager of Federal and State Compliance also works directly with KIPP Texas School Leaders on other grants such as Instructional Materials Allotment and Charter Start Up Funds. He/she will also be responsible for auditing federal grants to ensure timesheets, high qualified status and all required elements of the Federal Grants are appropriately complete.  The Manager of Federal and State Compliance position furthers the mission of KIPP Texas because he/she helps to promote the proper utilization and documentation of the spend of Federal Grants.      Key Responsibilities   Ensure all Federal Funds are spent appropriately and spent in a compliance manner Ensure all charges made into Federal Grants are allowable and appropriate Audit all Federal Grants to ensure no audit findings in the current year audit Work directly with auditors in helping lead the Annual Single Audit Assist with allocating KIPP Texas expenses to the appropriate funding streams Receive credit card statements and invoices from Accounts Payable; review them against grant requirements to determine whether or not  expenditures can be allocated to specific funding sources Track Highly Qualified (HQ) statuses of KIPP Texas teachers Maintain an up-to-date HQ spreadsheet of all teachers at KIPP Texas Complete and submit the annual HQ report for the State of Texas Submit state and federal grant applications in a timely manner Research and collect all background and supporting documentation for grants that KIPP Texas is eligible to apply for Lead the process of surveying students, parents, and faculty members, or requesting student test scores, as may be required by some grants; examples of such grants include IDEA-B , VSPC (Voluntary Public School Choice), NCLB, SSI (Student Success Initiative) Complete all background research for ESSA reporting Provide support to departments and schools Help School leaders develop School Development Plans and Campus Improvement Plans in compliance to the Secondary Education Act Perform internal control reviews and develop improvement plans   Skills and Qualifications   Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, plus 3-5 years of work experience  3 years of Internal Audit Experience is highly preferred Masters of Business Administration or Educational Management degree, preferred Knowledge of school operations and grant management, required CPA, Preferred Excellent interpersonal skills and an energetic attitude; ability to work with all levels of the organization  Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence and initiative Ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines is key Ability to identify problems and proactively find solutions Strong ethics and a determination to maximize funding for KIPP Houston schools Extreme flexibility, with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate a high level of responsibility and multiple, changing priorities Proven written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and planning skills; ability to multitask Commitment to tasks at hand Strong analytical skills; thoughtful and autonomous decision making Detail-oriented and self-directed Initiator and creative thinker Continuous learner Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)     Compensation and Benefits Salary is based on years of experience, degree of education, and level of expertise.
