Description of Job (in two sentences): The Project Manager, Organizing is responsible for project managing large-scale organizing events and handling administrative work on a large, diverse team located in three cities across California.
Overview of Responsibilities The Project Manager, Organizing is responsible for project managing large-scale organizing events and handling administrative work on a large, diverse team located in three cities across California. Among other things, the Project Manager takes a leadership role on events for families and students, sourcing new organizer candidates, managing onboarding logistics, coordinating with other teams within the organization, and ensuring the Organizing team's credit card forms, timesheets, and organizing data is up-to-date and accurate. A successful Project Manager, Organizing is skilled at building lateral relationships and accountabilities and is able to move a team of directors and organizers through a number of successful projects. They manage up to the Senior Vice President, Organizing to ensure the entire team is getting the information and supports they need to be successful. Additionally, a successful manager must be able to manage multiple projects at once, have a deep grasp of data systems, have strong written and verbal communication skills, and be exceedingly well-organized and detail oriented. Experience working with a diverse team, respect for varied viewpoints, a passion for educational justice, flexibility, and a sense humor are all a must.
Plan and execute large-scale events and actions around the protection and support of charter schools
Manage sourcing, hiring, and onboarding processes for all new team members
Schedule and handle the logistics of all-team and cross-team meetings, including managing up and laterally to ensure prework is ready and clear
Maintain current systems of tracking data and provide support to organizers to ensure they are updated
Work closely with CCSA's legal and political departments to ensure that the organizing team understands and follows through on c3, c4, lobbying, and campaign compliance guidance
Performs other duties as required to support the CCSA 501(c)3 organization and its mission
Provides support, as appropriate, to CCSA Advocates - CCSA's tandem 501(c)4 organization - with campaign efforts at the local and state level
Strong written and oral communication skills
Willingness to work flexible hours including occasional weeknights and weekends; ability to travel and work remotely; driver's license and access to a vehicle
Extensive experience using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word and project management applications
Experience managing multiple, simultaneous work efforts and an ability to plan strategically and marshal resources toward the execution of that plan
Ability to follow through 100% of the time and consistently meet deadlines
Exude a spirit of yes; embrace obstacles and propose multiple solutions
Understand and appreciate the use of outcomes-based data and information to help drive performance
Highly motivated and extremely proactive - constantly takes on projects and identifies problems and opportunities
Relationship-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills, readily develops trust and credibility across all levels and can motivate others
Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented; agile and able to manage competing priorities with grace and humor, focus and patience
A degree from a four-year college or university
Event planning experience
Knowledge of and belief in the essential role of charter schools as a means for improved educational options for students and a lever for broader educational change in California
Supervisory Responsibility The Project Manager, Organizing does not have direct reports. This role works closely with the Senior Vice President, Organizing regarding statewide special projects and initiatives.
