Reporting to the Director of IT Programs, the Project Manager will build cross-departmental relationships and trust to ensure our technology enables City Year's strategic success in an intentional and scalable way. The Project Manager is responsible for the designing, planning, implementing, managing, and measuring / tracking success for a portfolio of strategic, complex projects. The Project Manager will grow knowledge of supported technology areas to have clear understanding of current and future technology requirements of the business that will support creation of an IT roadmap and governance processes. A successful candidate will also have a passion for process, best practices, and mentoring team members, specifically as it pertains to designing and implementing strategies for teams to continuously improve using Agile principles and practices. Job Description Responsibilities: 1. Lead cross-functional teams to successful completion of projects using primarily agile methodologies, including educating team members in roles and responsibilities within agile. 2. Establish and maintain effective relationships across departments and locations by becoming a trusted adviser to various business stakeholders. Be the liaison between the business units, technology teams and governance committees. 3. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including helping to prioritize and schedule efforts so that projects finish on time. 4. Manage resources in IT, business functions, and vendors by coordinating and negotiating competing demands for resources across projects, conflicting requirements, and competing technical solutions. 5. Ensure high quality project deliverables throughout the project, including project documentation such as risk management plan, test plans, change management plan, and user documentation. 6. Communicate with teams, customers, users, vendors, and stakeholder to share information about the project, status, technical specifics, plans and schedules, and challenges. 7. Control and manage project budget so that effort completes on or under budget. 8. Coach others within ITS and beyond on project management best practices with a focus on growing and evolving Agile best practices 9. Assist IT Programs Director in management of ITS-wide roadmap, communication, & team-building. Qualifications: Appreciation for City Year's mission and strategy Experience with using project management best practices and techniques in Agile and Waterfall methods Experience with requirements gathering methods and management technologies Experience supporting or enhancing more than one of the following technologies: Customer relationship management (CRM, e.g. Salesforce), Enterprise resource planning (ERP, e.g. Workday), Data warehouse, Business Intelligence, Office 365 or SharePoint At least 3 years of professional experience related to business analysis, project management, and experience in a technical environment managing the delivery of technology solutions for multiple clients or stakeholders At least 2 years of experience working on Agile teams with demonstrated gains in transparency, alignment, and velocity. Experience leading Agile teams a plus. Proficiency in MS Project, MS Office, Agile tools (such as Trello), and Visio Experience with creating change management plans and leading change management across large, diverse stakeholder groups Ability to synthesize business issues into technical solutions and technical issues into business implications Detail-oriented and familiar with best practices for testing and product lifecycle Excellent relationship building skills, especially customer service skills Experience working in an environment managing multiple, concurrent projects with shifting priorities, demands, and timelines Degree from 4 year college program or equivalent work experience Ability to listen deeply and communicate effectively both written and verbally to various audiences and various levels in the organization Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously Passion for working in a highly diverse, mission-oriented community Willingness to participate in various volunteer activities in support of our mission, such as mentoring an AmeriCorps member, attending a service event, providing supplies for school teams.
