This year, we collectively educate over 29,000 students in more than 50 schools, covering a geographic area of over 400 miles. As we look to the future, our ambitious goal is that we will grow to serve 100,000 students in Texas and 75% of them will graduate from college. To achieve that goal, we are currently adding 4 to 7 schools per year and two to four locations. The Opportunity The Project Controls Specialist is accountable for the operation and maintenance of the processes required for monitoring the schedule and maintaining control of KIPP Texas' construction project(s). This includes supporting the capital projects manager to develop the project scope, requirements, and establishing appropriate techniques to monitor and control delivery to time, cost and quality parameters. The role also involves a focus on high quality delivery and promoting health and safety excellence. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Construction. Key Responsibilities Assist in contract administration functions including to document and maintain the definition of the scope and requirements of project(s); Identify and monitor fundamental components of projects (scope, schedule, resource requirements, budgets, risks, issues and quality); Prepare and maintain schedules of project activities and events; Assist with establishing governance arrangements for the delivery of projects by defining clear roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities that align with organizational practice; Interface with designated management and contractor counterparts for specific planning, to schedule tasks, and prepare cost reports; Produce performance progress reports to the project team; Maintain processes to identify and track risks including the impacts on cost and schedule, and where appropriate, applying risk modelling to assess project performance confidence levels; and Prepare custom cost/budget/forecast tracking tools in both MS Excel, MS Project, and Google platforms. Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction or Business and a minimum of 3 years progressive experience in a project controls function or related position. Execute simultaneous tasks within broadly defined parameters; Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy required; Excellent organizational skills required; Strong work ethic coupled with an enthusiastic and passionate approach to work; Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence and initiative; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community; Proven written and verbal communication skills; Proven success in working in an environment characterized by changing priorities; Strong typing skills are required; Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and MS Project) and Google platforms; Proficiency using computers, printers, and copy machines; Knowledge of value management and value engineering techniques; Developing, maintaining and applying quality management processes for project and/or portfolio activities and outputs; Experience in the use of project controls software for scheduling, cost management, risk management and performance reporting; and Experience of preparing and maintaining an overall schedule for resource use, which avoids bottlenecks and conflicting demands, and sequencing outcomes, to enable the efficient realization of benefits.
